IELTS General

The IELTS General Training test is conducted for those candidates who wish to migrate to an English-speaking country like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK for work experience, secondary education, or training programs. The test is also accepted in fields like banking and finance, government, construction, energy and natural resources, aviation, health, and tourism.

Test Structure

The IELTS General Training tests all four language skills that are important for effective communication: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The structure of the IELTS General Training is as follows:

Listening

Listening

Time allotted - 30 minutes

Scoring scale: 0-9 bands

Listening section has four sections, each with 10 questions.

Reading

Reading

Time allotted - 60 minutes

Scoring scale: 0-9 bands

Reading section has 3 passages and 40 questions.

Writing

Writing

Time allotted - 60 minutes

Scoring scale: 0-9 bands

Writing section consists of 2 compulsory tasks.

Speaking

Speaking

Time alloted - 10 - 15 minutes

Scoring scale: 0-9 bands

The speaking test takes the form of a viva-voce.

All the sections have a 0.5 band increment. There is no negative marking in the IELTS.

You should choose the training mode depending on your location, schedules and target IELTS scores. If you live in a city where our classroom courses are available and can come to the classrooms for the entire course duration, you would be better off with our classroom courses. If you’re aiming for a 7+ band score, you will benefit from our Private Tutoring plan. On the other hand, if you need very little guidance from us and can self-learn, please take advantage of the online course.
