The Academy of Music and Performing Arts (AMPA) is a leading provider of performing arts education in Australia. AMPA has been educating and encouraging young artists for over 20 years and continues to include the highest quality undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the performing arts, including modern, jazz, and classical music, dance production, and theatre performance,(modern, ballet, jazz, contemporary and hip hop), music theatre, composition/music production and arts management. AMPA equips talented artists with the skills they need to excel as singers, dancers, performing artists, composers, producers, choreographers, directors, instructors, and industry professionals in Australia and around the world, thanks to its unique personal approach, high-calibre teaching staff, focus on performance-based study, and individual study designs.

Campus Life

The AMPA campus is situated in accessible and vibrant Surry Hills, just 150 metres from Central Station and directly across Chalmers Street from Prince Alfred Park. AMPA has transformed the Tom Mann Theatre into a highly impressive and adaptable venue ideal for a wide range of entertainment applications including live music, theatre, musicals, dance, drama and spoke word thanks to its large stage and outstanding acoustics. The Tom Mann Theatre is a prominent part of the new campus. The theatre has state-of-the-art technical equipment, raked seats, fly lines, a loading dock, and various rehearsal and dressing rooms to accommodate up to 160 patrons. The AMPA Surry Hills campus is the perfect place to nurture and grow our student community's technical success skills.
