College of Charleston is one of the oldest educational organizations in South Carolina and the 13th oldest institution for higher education in the United States. This academic institute was officially set up in the year 1770. It provides learning through seven schools, an honors educational institute, and a graduate school. This public liberal art college is known for its cultural historic diversity and graduate majors in Business, Marketing, Biological, and biomedical sciences, visual and performing arts, communication, and journalism. There are a total of 62 graduate major programs, 80 minor courses, 22 master's degree courses, and 9 graduate-level certificate programs on offer at this college.

The College of Charleston Alumni Association is a global group of more than 93,000 alumni.  Alumni associations are governed by a recognized board which intends to assist and formulate an interest in forming a united community. The Student Alumni Associates (SAA) at the college campus, a student initiative group was founded in 1984. Charleston College Alumni graduates have their private-run clubs in 30 cities across the nation and globe. The primary goal of the Alumni Association is to preserve and promote the ever-lasting history and traditions of the university.
