Lakehead University is a public research university in Ontario. It has 2 campuses which are located in Thunder Bay and Orillia. The university offers the students with almost 60 different undergraduate academic areas to study in. Lakehead University is also partnered with Georgian College for other innovative degrees and programs. The University was established over 50 years ago and it has a wide reputation globally for its research excellence. As Lakehead University is affiliated with Georgian College, they offer 4 innovative degree plus diploma programs on its Barrie Campus, Ontario. The university has nine faculties which are the Faculty of Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Natural Resources Management, Science and others

Campus Life

Lakehead University has a student count just under 10000 students with over 1500 international students stemming from 80 different countries. As the university has 2 campuses, the main campus in Thunder Bay has approximately 7,900 students. In 2006, a new permanent extension campus in Orillia was constructed that houses around 1400 students.  In September 2013, the Faculty of Law welcomed its first batch of students. Lakehead University also provides scholarships and bursaries to their students. Scholarships and bursaries like Nursing Bursaries, Hamlin Family Fund Bursary, Hamlin Family Fund Native Bursary, etc. are a part of this. Apart from this, the university provides entrance scholarships to high-school students on merit base paid out during four years of undergraduate. Lakehead also offers free tuition to students with a 95% average or higher.

The university has a family of 45,000 alumni who have earned fame through their work and achievements. Alumni like Stephen Low, a filmmaker and director of IMAX; the City Councillor of Orillia, Mason Ainsworth;the well-known coach and Swimmer of Australia, Jan Cameron are all graduates of Lakehead University.
