Laid its foundation in 1853, St. Francis Xavier University (StFX) was the first one to offer a formal service-learning program, which opened various options for international learning. St. Francis Xavier University is located in Antigonish, which is just a two-hour drive from Halifax, Nova Scotia. It is an active member of the Maple League and is known as the best undergraduate university in Canada. The University offers various programs with diversified courses so that the students have an option to choose their field of interest. The highly experienced teaching staff of the University uses improvised teaching aids so that the concepts are even easy to understand and apply in real life. There are mainly four academic faculties namely Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Education and Faculty of Business. StFX believes in the overall development of a student, for that there is Coady International Institute, known globally for its excellence in community-based development and leadership education. Whatever is needed for making the learning easy and fun, the institute does it all.

Campus Life

St. Francis Xavier University has a single sited campus, providing all the necessary facilities. There are various on-campus accommodation options available for the students so that they can make new connections and can foster their academic journey. There are in total seven residence options available on-campus, each offers all the facility so that student feels it like a home. Not only have these, but StFX also gives equal importance to extracurricular activities, athletics and other sports. To serve this purpose, there is the state-of-the-art Keating Centre which encompasses two ice surfaces, a gym, a yoga studio and a dance studio. Other recreational activities are also offered at the Oland Center, which is again the home for two gymnasiums and a features pool. For each and everyone on the campus, there is something to do like; there are various clubs for getting socialize, multiple sports leagues for the sports lover, theatre, music, health centres and many more. In short, there is everything which an ideal campus should have.

StFX is one of the oldest and the prestigious university in eastern Canada; as a result, it has an extensive alumni network. Either be it in business, politics, music or engineering, Stfx has their alumni in every domain. Brian Mulroney – Prime Minister of Canada (1984-1993), Gerry Dee – actor and comedian, John Allan Cameron – Celtic Musician, Charles V. Keating – Canadian Businessman and Lisa MacLeod - Member of Provincial Parliament, Ontario are one of the few notable alumni.
