French is one of the most popular and fastest- growing languages in the world. It is the official language in 29 countries, the procedural language for the European Union.

The official number of people who speak French globally is around 300 million, which include native speakers as well as those who speak as a second language and numerous French dialects.

Test Structure

The DELF is the French language studies diploma. It is an official diploma issued by the French Ministry of National Education. There are 4 diplomas corresponding to the first 4 levels described by the CEFR: DELF A1, DELF A2, DELF B1, DELF B2

Listening:

Duration: Approximately 20 minutes, Marks out of: 25, Comprehension questionnaires dealing with three or four very short recordings on everyday life (played twice). Maximum duration of recordings: 3 mins

Reading:

Duration: 30 minutes, Marks out of: 25, Comprehension questionnaires dealing with four or five written documents on everyday life.

Writing:

Duration: 30 minutes, Marks out of: 25, Two part test: - filling in a record, a form, - writing simple phrases (postcards, messages, stories etc) on everyday topics.

Speaking:

Duration: 5 to 7 minutes preparation: 10 minutes, Marks out of: 25, Three part test: - guided conversation, - exchanging information, - role-play. TCF - Test de Connaissance du Français is French Language Proficiency Test for international students to pursue further study as well as comply with immigration purposes. It increases the chances of gettingvisa in Quebec - Canada, France and many other Francophone countries. The test – TCF is broadly divided into Compulsory Tests and Optional Tests. The Compulsory Tests are further divided into three sub-sections which have a total of 76 questions and stretches for roughly an hour and a half.

Duration: 60 minutes , Number of Questions: Three tasks in order of increasing difficulty, Test d’évaluation de français pour le Canada (TEF Canada) is a test of fluency in French for non-native speakers. It is awarded by the CCIP (Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de Paris). It is often required to be admitted into universities and is recognized by the Federal government of Canada as a proof of fluency in immigration procedures, and increases the chances of getting visa in Quebec-Canada, France and many other countries.

Oral Comprehension:

Duration: 40 minutes, Number of Questions: 60

Written Comprehension:

Duration: 60 minutes, Number of Questions: 50

Oral Expression:

Duration: 15 minutes, Number of Questions: 2 topic to cover
