What is GPA?
GPA (Grade point Average) scores are calculated by analysing students' performance in a semester or a term. In general, GPA scale has 5 grades A,B,C,D and F, where A being the highest grade and F stands for fail.

How to convert 10.0 CGPA to 4.0 GPA?
To convert the Indian CGPA to US GPA, divide your CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA (usually 10) and then multiply the result by 4. This gives you the equivalent US GPA on a 4.0 scale.
For example: If the marks statement provided by the university says you got a CGPA of 6.0 and you batch topper scored 8.0 CGPA, then you can calculate your score as
(6.0/8.0) X 4 = 3.

Most of the universities in the USA are aware of the Indian grading system, so they will not ask students to convert their scores and send them.
