Pearson Language Test (PTE) is a test written by non-native English speakers who want to study, work or immigrate abroad. Since TOEFL, and IELTS are presently not acceptable by the Home Affairs of Australia, the PTE Score of Australia is essential for permanent residency (PR).

The PTE is a computerized exam and can be written from home. The exam pattern consists of four modules- PTE reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The result of the exam will be declared within 5-7 days.

The PTE test score is accepted by the Australian Department of Home Affairs and they categorized English proficiency into five levels.

  • Functional English – Applicants falling in this category should have taken the PTE test in the last 12 months of applying for a visa.

PTE score for Australian Student Visa

‘To get an Australian student visa, a minimum PTE score of 42 is required. A minimum score of 36 is also accepted if the candidate attends at least 10 weeks of English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) and a minimum score of 30 is accepted if a student attends 20 weeks of (ELICOS)’.

  • General Skilled Migration Visa Holders: Should be a citizen and have valid passports from Canada, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, USA.
  • Permanent Employer Sponsor under Temporary Residence Transition Stream Visa Holders: Should complete 5 years of full-time study in English.

Applicants must be conscious that PTE test results are valid only for 2 years following the test date.
