Man: Good morning, can I help you?

Woman:  I'd like to apply for driving license.
 
Man: right We'll just have to fill in this form.  

Woman: Uh-huh. 

Man: First could you tell me your full name. 

Woman: Yes, it's Teresa collins. 

Man: Right and what type of vehicle would you like to drive.  

Woman: Oh just a normal car.  

Man: That's a class seat license then have you ever held a driving license in another country.  

Woman: Oh no i'm too young anyway i think i'd be too scared to drive in another country.
 
Man: Right I'll just need to get some personal details from you um could i have your date of birth please. 

Woman: Yes it's the 17th of march 1994. 

Man: And what's your address? 

Woman: 28 river street.
 
Man: That's spelt r-i-v-e-r is that right.
 
Woman: Yes.  

Man: And that's in Bentley isn't it.
 
Woman: Yes.
 
Man: Okay and your phone number.
 
Woman: I'll give you my home number, it's 3701 8699.
 
Man: Right and what form of id do you have with you.

Woman: Well I've got a bank card here it is.
 
Man: Let's see no we need something with your photo on it like a student card. 
 
Woman: I've got that with me here you are. 
 
Man: Yeah that's fine now there's an application fee of 55. How would you like to pay? We take credit cards but not checks I'm afraid and we take cash of course if you have enough money with you. 
 
Woman: I do actually and I try not to use my credit card if I can avoid it here you are. 
 
Man: Thank you. Right now there are a few things I need to tell you about the license.
Before you actually drive a car you have to pass a test about the road rules. 

Woman: Oh that's the test about speed limits and road signs and things like that
isn't it.  

Man: Yes that's right there are two parts to the test and you're allowed to make a maximum of two errors in each section so that's four altogether.  

Woman: And if I fail the test, can I do it again? 

Man: Yes, you can but you have to wait at least a week right.  

Woman: And when I'm driving there's got to be someone with me in the car who holds a full license doesn't there.  

Man: Yes, that could be a family member, a professional driving instructor or a friend.  

Woman: What about my older sister?  

Man: Sure as long as she's got the right kind of license. Now the learner's license is valid for nine months at the end of that time you have to do a practical driving test
if you pass that you're granted a provisional license that expires after 18 months.
If you don't pass the practical driving test you're given a learner's license for another six months. 

Woman: I see and while I'm still on the learner's license how fast can I drive.  

Man: Well, it depends on the area you're driving in in most places in the city there's a speed limit of 60 kilometers an hour as you probably know on highways in the countryside there's often a speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour but as a learner you're never allowed to exceed 80 even on a highway. 

Woman: Right, I think that'd be fast enough for me anyway. 

Man:  Is there anything else you need to know? 

Woman: Oh yeah I heard there are restrictions on using mobile phones while you're driving.  

Man: That's right, until recently you could only talk on a mobile while you're driving if you used an earphone or hands-free device but that's been changed.  

Woman: Oh.  

Man: Yeah now you can't use mobiles at all while driving 

Woman: Not even to send an sms.  

Man: Not even to send an sms anyway, if that's all i'll give you a copy of the book on the road rules.
