Model Answer 1: Ashok Kumar, a Fashion Designer
Introduction:
Dressing well is a symbol of good mental health. Those who give importance to dresses give importance to their health and character. This time, I’m going to talk about a person who is a friend of mine. He’s fond of new dresses and experimenting with them all the time.
Who this person is?
In my social circle, Ashok Kumar, a fashion designer, is notable for his exceptional sense of style. Right from his graduation days, he follows a certain fashion style. His dark complexion and smooth hair make him look attractive.
How do you know him/her?
We were classmates. I met him at Miranda House College, New Delhi while pursuing my bachelor’s degree in History. And I have known him since then. By the end of the first semester, we met together and worked on a research paper, and that’s when I know about him personally.
What kind of dresses does he/she wears?
He wears jeans and shirts to attend any function. Whereas, he wears a full formal dress for official purposes. His choice of colours is unorthodox, as he chooses pink or green in the dark shade for pants and black or white for shirts. If it’s a sudden party invitation, he comes in a funky printed t-shirt of irregular size. Interestingly, he customises his outfit through stitching, printed, woven, or other embellishments. He mostly prefers slim-fit suits for any occasion and creates his stylish look.
Model Answer 2: Joseph, a stylist consultant
Introduction:
People who are well-disciplined and mannered, dress up well most of the time. They follow a specific approach to clothes and dressing. Today, I’m going to talk about my colleague at work, who I believe dresses up very well.
Who this person is?
In my workplace, one individual is remarkable for his outstanding dressing style – Mr. Joseph. He is above 50 years of age, married, and has one daughter and one son. He’s a mature, wise man who has made dressing so simple. He’s basically a consultant, working for different organisations.
How do you know him/her?
When I joined a non-profit organisation, I had the opportunity to meet him and work under his guidance. He’s been the CEO of that organisation for many years. After my probation period, I took over the responsibility of protecting the scheduled castes and the scheduled tribe's rights. Since then, I have known him a lot.
What kind of dresses does he/she wear?
He wears a formal white shirt with blue pants. For formal wear, his requirements are white buttons, collars, cuffs and golden zippers, ensuring the size is medium to large. Unlike online shopping or in a showroom, he prefers stitching with fine-quality fabric material. Whether it’s a wedding reception or a school exhibition, he wears the same set of outfits, irrespective of any function. In a way, it saves him time in selecting suits for various occasions.
Model Answer 3: Aloysius Mary, the prettiest girl
Introduction:
I was born and raised in a small town near Kanyakumari, where many Christians are there. They widely follow western costumes and their culture. Out of nowhere, I met a small kid in the church who was dressed well and, at the same time, didn’t show off.
Who this person is?
In my church community, one young individual stands out with her gorgeous attire – Aloysius Mary, a 9-year-old girl studying in the 4th grade. Every week, she comes to Church with her family and participates in choir. Other than studying, she’s good at singing and playing piano.
How do you know him/her?
I know her because I took classes with her.
What kind of dresses does he/she wear?
Unfortunately, kids don’t choose their dress, but their parents do. That’s the reason why children look more fashionable than everyone else. This girl wears elegant frocks for other celebrations and a fancy white gown for Christmas. Of all her dresses, the pinafore attire on her birthday comes with a t-shirt. It looks beautiful because of its round neck, full sleeves, and button closure. Some of her dresses are custom-made, having embellishments to look trendy. Thus, inspire other kids to dress well and identify themselves with new alluring clothes.
IELTS Speaking Test Part 3: Follow-up Questions
Based on your response to the cue card - describe a person who you believe dresses well, the examiner might shoot follow-up questions in the IELTS speaking test part 3. There are nine questions given below.
1. Where do Indians actually buy clothes?
A decade ago, Indians bought clothes in streets, shopping malls, local markets, or bazaars. But now, they prefer buying online as it contains many collections, offers & discounts, and importantly, they take back (return) if the customer is not satisfied with the product.
2. Do clothes affect people’s moods?
Absolutely! Clothes do affect people’s moods. Many go shopping for clothes to make themselves feel better. It changes their mood from bad to good instantly. On the other hand, this positive mood change is temporary and does not last long.
3. Do you think online shopping will replace in-store shopping in the future? Why?
Online shopping will replace in-store shopping in the future, however, not absolutely. The reason for this shift is that online shopping is 24X7 anytime and any day. Online stores are up to date in terms of the latest fashion trends. It offers different varieties, and during festivals, it offers huge discounts. Thus, online shopping is more advantageous than traditional in-store shopping.
4. Why is fashion very important to some people?
Fashion is very important to some people because it gives them self-confidence. They look good to be good. Other than that, some people are naturally inclined towards fashion, new trends, trying various varieties, etc. Sometimes, without fashion, they might feel depressed.
5. Are women more fashionable than men? Why?
In my opinion, both genders are equally interested in fashion. Women and men spend more on clothing, cosmetics, grooming, etc. To look chic and modern, they follow many celebrities on social media and indulge in gym or fitness activities. Unfortunately, it leads to over expectations and eventually depression.
6. What is the difference between men's and women’s choices of clothes?
There is no major difference between men’s and women’s choices of clothes. Astonishingly, men’s dresses are quite expensive compared to women’s dresses.
7. What do people consider when buying clothes?
When buying clothes, people consider the dress for the occasion (casual or formal), quality of the material (silk, cotton, or wool), how long it lasts, colour shading, size fit, accessories (if any) and finally, the price, offers, and discounts available.
8. Are older people as fashionable as young people? Why?
No. Older people are less fashionable than younger people due to their level of maturity. As they get older, they realize that there are other important things in life, so they disregard fashion and beauty.
9. What is your favourite colour and clothing to wear?
My favourite colour is blue and my favourite clothing is a formal shirt and pants.
