It is the second task in the IELTS speaking test, cue card is also known as candidate task card which is given to the candidate.  In this session, you have to talk for about 1-2 minutes, the examiner will give a topic like describe a quiet place, which is given here as a sample for IELTS speaking cue card.

Describe a quiet place - Model answer 1

Introduction: 
    In this busy world there are some places that seem to be quiet, everyone needs a quiet surrounding, which gives a peaceful mind. Monthly once I would spend my time in a quiet place to relax myself. 

Where is it?
     I am living in the middle of the city, so every time it looks very busy. Noise pollution, air pollution occur. It disturbs me a lot, but I have a place where I can spend my time alone or with my family members. Last year we owned a new house which is near to the waterfalls. It is peaceful and calm .

When do you like to go there?
      I spend most of my holidays there, even when some days we would like to have dinner in that place, it feels more happier. We  celebrate all our special days like all  my family members  birthdays, my parents and my brothers wedding anniversary. Especially my vacation holiday for a month we would spend there only.

What do you do there? 
      It is near a waterfall, so every morning we go there to take a bath and spend time. On those special days we celebrate along with my family members only with cake cutting and having dinner. That is the time when all family members sit along and share our happy moments.

Why did you like to visit there?
       It is a place with a lot of memories to me. I have been visiting that place since my birth and all my birthdays are celebrated there. It gives me a calm and peaceful mind, it becomes my habit to visit that place at least once in a month. It has become one of my favourite places. 

Conclusion:
     Whenever I need some relaxation I firstly prefer this place to spend my time. Even some days I spend my time in that house alone, it is like some stressbuster for me. I spend my time by cooking myself, listening to the sounds of nature.

Describe a quiet place - Model answer 2

Introduction: 
    People prefer quiet areas because they use them to rest and focus while working. However, these days, these kinds of places are hard to come by although a library is a calm setting, people can only study there and cannot unwind there.  

 Where is it?
    Whenever I feel low I would like to spend time alone in some quiet area. So most of the time I spend my time on the beach, the sounds of nature feels good to hear. Even though it is a busy crowded area, it seems quiet in the early morning.  

When do you like to go there?
Most of the time I go there by early morning, every day it is the place I go first. The place is near to my home so I used to go there every day. Some days I’ll go with my nephew in the evening. I took him there to have a good evening and we spent some time playing with sand and balls.

What do you do there?
  Everyday, I take a morning stroll through the seashore. I spoke to my friend and the neighbours after my stroll because they come to this place on a regular basis. I read a book in the yard every night. I love to read.   

Why did you like to visit that place?
  It is a pleasant place which gives me lots of energy, good vibes. The fresh air and the sounds of nature are good to hear. Even, I recorded those sounds in my recording tool, I like to hear it  when I am going to bed every day. 

Conclusion: 
Think that is a good place to spend time to get a peaceful mind, especially in the early morning. People who were near the beach used to come there regularly. As far as I know it is the best quiet place . 

Describe a quiet place - Model answer 3

Introduction: 
    Quiet areas is a concept used in landscape planning to develop areas with good sound quality and limited noise disturbance. The idea is generally applied in natural and natural- looking settings that offer a high level of accessibilities and sensory pleasure.

Where is it?
    There are some quiet places in cities, among these I used to spend my time at a temple to get a pleasant evening. Though  it is far away from my home, I go there to  spend my time. It gives me a good vibe. I go there along with my cousin who is staying with me. 

When do you like to go there?
     I would like to go in the evening to that place.  It seems  crowdly at some days but everyone keeps quiet, they concentrate only on their prayers. I go there in the morning even during holidays. On my birthday I will never forget to be there.

What do you do there?
     It is all under my mind set. If I feel low or stressed I would like to sit simply, or some days I roam there by seeing the architect and wondering about them. I would like to take a picture of those things,also I have a collection of those sculptures as pictures.

Conclusion:
      Every shrine looks to be silent and quiet every time. At any occasion it seems like a crowded and noisy place. Not everyone would like to spend time in quiet place, 

Describe a quiet place - Model answer 4

Introduction:
  In open country quiet areas is one that is not distrubed by noise from industry, recreation, or traffic as determined by the relevant authority. A quiet area is one that has been designated by the competent authorities as not benign exposed to any noise above a specified value. 

Where is it?
    There is one quiet place where we can go only to gain our knowledge, yes it is the library. Some people are interested in books, and those people like to go there often. It will be helpful in gaining knowledge and spending time with the story books. We can get all types of books here.

When do you go there?
   There is no time to enhance our knowledge, I used to go there often whenever I got time or whenever I had free time. I used to spend my time there only. Most of my holiday was spent in the library. I have read so many story books and general books. 

What do you do there?
   Mostly I read story books (historical stories) such as ponniyin selvan, sivagamiyin sapatham etc. Sometimes I read all english grammar books which helps me to develop my english knowledge. I also read more general books about space, biology etc.

Why did you like to visit there?
   It is my favourite spot. I am a person who loves to be alone in a quiet place. So I prefer the library to spend my time. Even my friends were making fun of me like I am a bookworm etc but i don't care about other words. 

Conclusion:
    Reading books is not a bad habit, we should encourage our children to read at least one book a week. This helps them  to develop their knowledge as well as to develop their english knowledge like speaking, writing and reading.

Describe a quiet place - IELTS Speaking Part 3 follow up questions

  The IELTS speaking test part 3 was about 4-5 minutes long. The topic describe a quiet place is given  for the IELTS speaking test with some follow up questions which helps you to enhance your idea about the part 3 test. 

Is it hard to find quiet places in cities?
      Yes, it is very hard to find quiet places in the cities. There are people who  are busy working,  every time it seems busy.  Everyone moves for their needs, in this hurry world it seems hard to find a quiet place.

Why is it quiet in the countryside?
     In the countryside there are some quiet places, like mountain ranges, agricultural lands etc are looks quiet. There are no pollutants in the village side,  still in many villages they were using bullock carts, bicycle, still there are many villages with the same nature as how it looked in the past.

Why do people go to quiet places?
      People prefer  quiet places, whenever they feel low. They  prefer to stay alone for sometime, to get a peaceful mind and improve concentration. Even some will prefer a quiet place to make a clear decision about anything.

Compared with young people, do old people prefer to live in a quiet place?
     Yes, obviously old people prefer to live in a quiet place. Because those people had lived in villages since  their birth, now only they were relocated to cities along with their son or daughter . 

Why do some people not like quiet places?
     That depends on their character or their nature. Some feel like spending time in the crowded area by seeing others' activities. It will distract their mind from their stress or depression.

Do you know any other quiet places?
     Yes, there are some quiet places even in cities like temples, churches that look quiet, because once people enter a  devotional place they keep quiet and they start to pray to god. And there are some quiet places in the countryside. I have experienced those places whenever I went to my relatives' home.

Do you need a quiet place when you are working?
      No, I don't prefer quiet places to work, I used to listen to music whenever I work. It helps me to distract myself from my stress or depression. Sometimes I interact with my colleagues when I am working. Those things help me to distract myself from stress.

Why do people like to spend time in quiet places?
     It all depends upon their mind set, some need a peaceful mind or maybe it is their nature. To make a clear decision, they prefer quiet places. Even  there some people who like to stay with people, they prefer every time they need there should be some people around them.

Do you know anyone who likes noise?
   Yes, there is one of my friends, he likes to be in noisy areas. Every time he listens to music with a high sound. He likes songs which have heavy beats. He used to say it gives him some relaxation.

Why do young people dislike the countryside?
      Young people get used to it by living in cities with modern culture. But in the countryside they should have the culture, there are not many facilities like the facilities in cities.They have to get used to living with the technology which does not give any work to them.
