You can take approximately 20 minutes on Questions 1-3, depending on the reading passage given below.

The Deep Sea

A. Most of everyone is interested in outer space but there are a lot of things to explore on the earth. Robots and spacecraft are surrounding the space to know more about the space, but most of our planet is unexplored. Ironically, we actually know more about craters on the moon than about the largest and longest mountain on the earth. Human beings have crossed about a quarter of a million miles of space but not penetrated two miles deep into the earth to explore the Midocean Ridge.

B. The temperature near the bottom in very deep water is about four degrees above freezing. Cold down below penetrate a diving capsule than it would penetrate since water absorbs heat more quickly than air.  Whatever enters the deep water, the abyss clamps down it with crushing pressure. This force is the same as air pressure on land, only thing to note is that water is much heavier than air.

C. Normally, Fishes are filled with water in their environment so they don’t feel pressure in the deep sea. It has always been compressed by abyssal pressure as much as water could be. A diving craft, on the other hand, is a hollow chamber that abruptly dispenses the water surrounding it. That chamber must be able to endure hundreds of pounds per square inch of deep-sea pressure.
