Introduction:
A letter is a written message by one person to another person to inform any message or conveying wishes. Here I am going to share about the letter I wrote to someone.

Who you wrote this letter to?
  I wrote this letter to my grandparents. My grandparents were living in my native Tirunelveli which is famous for many Pilgrimages and for foods. My parents and I were living in another district so I used letters to give any information or wishes to my grandparents.

What you wrote about?
  I wrote this letter to convey my wishes for the diwali festival to my grandparents.  I started this letter by questioning their health and I explained about my studies and other things.

When it was?
 I still remember that day, when I was around 10-11 years old, during the diwali festival I wrote this letter.

Explain why writing this letter was important to you.
  As I mentioned above my grandparents were living far away from my family, we had no other options to convey our wishes so I used to write letters to communicate with them. That's why it was important to me.

Conclusion: 
As my grandparents passed away. Now while thinking about those days it will give a special feeling. Also I got all the letters which I wrote to my grandparents because they kept it very safe.

Introduction:

  • A letter is a way of communication, which is sent in an envelope by post or messenger.  
  • Here I am going to share about the letter I wrote to someone.

Who you wrote this letter to?

  • I wrote letters to my parents. As my father was working as an CISF officer in chennai they were unable to come along with me to stay near my college. 
  • So I stayed in my college hostel.

What you wrote about?

  • I use these letters to ask my needs to my parents, so that they can bring them when they come to meet me.   
  • Like asking them for new clothes, some home made foods, study materials etc. sometimes I mention about my exam marks

When it was?

  • I did my undergraduate at XYZ university in Madurai. It is one of the popular universities for architecture in Tamil Nadu.
  • My parents were living in chennai which is 450 km far away from my college.

Explain why writing this letter was important to you.

  • As I was staying in my college hostel I didn't have any other options to talk with my parents.
  • My college management had followed a strict rule that they had allocated one day in a month to see my parents. That too parents can come inside the college campus, students should not go out.  
  • Writing letters was the only way to interact with my parents, so I felt writing letters was important to me.

Conclusion:

  • It was my first experience of writing a letter. It also helps me to learn how we can express our thoughts to others by writing.

Introduction:
  Writing letters to our beloved creates a beautiful memory and gives a kind of happiness. Here I am going to share about the letter which I wrote to someone.

Who you wrote this letter to?
Friendship is a beautiful relation of mutual affection between people. Here I am going to share about the letter which I wrote to one of my best friends. Riya was my childhood friend. We both were friends till now, but due to some reason we separated to different places in the past 3 years.

What you wrote about?
  I started my letter by her nickname which I used to call her, then continued by telling all incidents that are happening in my life and I invited her for my sister’s marriage. I also mentioned the agenda of the marriage function.

When it was?
  Few years ago my parents arranged marriage to my sister. I wrote this letter to her to invite her for my sister’s haldi celebration.

Explain why writing this letter was important to you.
 As I mentioned above we were separated for a few years, and we both missed each other. I felt that her presence at my sister's wedding would make me happy. So I think it was important to send her a letter of invitation.

Conclusion:
 As I expected she had come to my sister's wedding and her presence made my day. 

IELTS speaking part 3 - Describe a letter you wrote to someone follow up questions.

   In part 3 of the IELTS speaking test, it is allotted with 4-5 minutes. Here we have given a few followup questions related to “Describe a letter you wrote to someone”. It will help you to grab good marks in major exams.

1. What is the difference between a letter and an e-mail?
   Email is a digital method of sending messages, a person can send or receive messages instantly via the internet. While letters can only be delivered through postal services.

2. Do you often keep diaries?
  Yes, I had a habit  of maintaining a dairy for the past 6 years. I used to record or recall my works and schedule, to express my own thoughts. I think having a habit of writing diaries is also one of the good habits.

3. What is the difference between a diary and a letter?
A letter is written to convey our message or any special things to another person who is far away from us, while the diary is used by a person to write their own thoughts or daily happenings and to note down the important work or to schedule their work. In other words, diaries can be explained as personal notes.

4. What is the difference between the past and at the present as regards communications?
  Nowadays the communication methods have changed a lot then the past. In the past people used letters to communicate with others who are far from them, but nowadays people use various methods like mobile phone, telephone, email etc to communicate.

5. What is the role of the letter 10 years ago and at present?
  Letters played a major role in the past when people used letters to communicate, while at present letters have lost their importance across the world because people were using the internet to communicate like email, telephone etc.

6. Would the post office disappear 20 years later? Why/ Why not?
In my opinion I think the post office will disappear in 20 years, because the technologies have improved a lot and people have also started using it in many ways. Nowadays people use the internet to communicate, to purchase products etc.  And the other thing is there are many private courier service offices like DHL, Bullet, that are running on. Now-a-days most of the people are using this courier service center to send couriers.
