Describe a person who taught you something important Model answer 1

Introduction
Life is a philosophy, I respect all the lessons that come in my way by any means. Obviously there are numerous essential things that I have learned and will keep learning throughout my life. However, there have been certain people who have made a few lessons unforgettable and significant to me.

Who the person is?
The person I would like to talk about is my nursery teacher. Memories of her appearance are a bit vague though I remember the gestures she taught to me in my primary learning age. She was an old lady, the one who was always engaged in teaching some activities to toddlers.

What he/she is like?
Well, as I said she used to be busy teaching activities to small children, she seemed to be a retired person. Also, a talented woman who would never accept to sit and pass time as it is.
As I remember, she was good at managing skills too. Handling so many kids at a time and making them understand the concept of discipline is not an easy task, but the lady did it so well that today I count those days as one of the good events in my life till now. It was so generous of her that she made her own house a homely school for us.

What he/she taught you?
It was my first school and so she taught me how to introduce myself to strangers for the first time in English. I learnt how to draw and paint in that school. Adding to it, she taught me to communicate with my peers in a healthy way. This one was  my favorite as I believe it is a basis on which I am going to build communication skills even further in my life.

How you felt about him/her?
Honestly, it was her that made me feel safe in my first school. Learning with unpredictable people around me used to freak me out until she did not involve herself and unite me with my first friend circle. She has possessed a very precious and lasting impression in my head that even today when I pass through the same path, I wait for a while to see if she is at her gate so that I can wave at her and ask her if she can recognize me.

Conclusion
In the end, I will say that my first teacher was my favorite person who taught me things that are very important to learn in life. In fact I will always remember her as a good side of the world in order to have a stake in a hope that good people do exist.

Describe a person who taught you something important Model answer 2

Introduction

  • In my perspective, anything that I learn has shown importance in life sooner or later.
  • Among all the lessons, the basics are most important.
  • I recently learned how to cook, which turned out to be harder than I expected initially, but the person who taught me that, made it much more swift and smooth for me to learn.

Who the person is?

  • The person I am willing to talk about is my grandmother.
  • She is basically the most attached person to me in my whole family.
  • Grandma is always so concerned about me, and so she readily takes responsibility for almost everything that I have to learn.

What he/she is like?

  • She is so sweet and wise in my family. She has always pampered me since childhood and I have been simply taking advantage of it to enjoy my life.
  • When I was a kid, she used to play with me as if she was a child too.
  • Now as I am a teenager, she is my best friend as I share everything with her.
  • In fact, her tips are so good, they work everytime.

What he/she taught you?

  • She taught me numerous things but recently I learnt cooking under her guidance.
  • I am going abroad to study and I understand that I will have to cook my own food.
  • No one will pamper me like she does. So she started to teach cooking a couple of months ago.

How you felt about him/her?

  • It was fun to learn with her. During the lessons, I was pretty shocked by seeing the way she cooks without being scared of fire or hot oil.
  • Sometimes, I used to struggle with learning a few food items, but she taught me certain tricks which she said were a secret.
  • It was these tricks that speeded up my learning process and made it exciting.

Conclusion

  • Concluding my topic, I want to say that I feel so grateful to spend such a quality time with my sweet, old best friend.
  • Today whenever my friends appreciate the food I cook for them, I smile with gratitude towards my grandma.

Describe a person who taught you something important Model answer 3

Introduction
I have explored that apart from the basics, academics and hobbies, there are numerous things that are very important to perceive in life. I want to talk about a person who has helped me get through certain obstacles in my teenage years.

Who the person is?
Dr. Aparajitha is one of the most significant people in my life. She is my psychologist. I have been consulting her for almost a year now.

What he/she is like?
She is a very affable and amiable person. Being a psychologist, she understands various possibilities of my state of mind. She handles all my doubts and difficulties smoothly. I am quite impressed by her positive attitude towards every aspect of life.

What he/she taught you?
She basically taught me to switch perspectives towards uncertain events happening in learning phases. Adding to it, she taught me several techniques to create awareness about my own thoughts and emotions so that it becomes quite easy for me to trace any unconscious miss-happenings.

How you felt about him/her?
I occasionally ponder how she is able to view the same subject from several angles and even explain her insight in detail. Her ability to accurately discern what I am thinking and feeling is my favorite quality about her. When she demonstrates kindness, acceptance, empathy, and a focus on me rather than herself, I instantly feel safe and at ease.

Conclusion
In the end, it catches me to feel good under the influence of a psychologist like Ms. Aparajitha. Her active skills of observing and changing perceptions to a better insight has been the most important thing that I learnt.

IELTS speaking part 3 - Describe a person who taught you something important

You can review the follow-up questions for “Describe a person who taught you something important.” This discussion round will take about 4-5 minutes where you have to elaborate your answers to the examiner.

  1. What qualities do you think a good teacher should have?

According to me, a good teacher should not be biased by any chance. Moreover, he/she should acquire traits like patience, observation and optimism. I also think that a good mentor or teacher understands the responsibility of being there for any student and welcoming each of their doubt, no matter how stupid they may be.

  2. Who do you think can learn better? Old people or youngsters?

Well, I think it’s the young people who are expected to learn better than old people. Personally, I live with my grandmother and I know that as time passes, she gets stubborn with her beliefs and tricks of handling situations. On the other hand, youngsters like me are in a growing phase, we are building opinions and concepts. So naturally, we are considered better learners.

  3. What do you think is the best age for children to go to school?

I think once a child has grown enough to understand gestures and words, they should be allowed to explore things on their own. However, some schools already have age criteria as their decorum, mostly it starts from 5 years.
  4. Do you prefer to study by yourself or with friends?
In my opinion, group study needs dedication towards task achievement so that any kind of diversion does not create a problem. While studying alone can help to concentrate and complete the work efficiently. Group projects are suitable to complete with friends but self study has to be done alone or with a mentor or a teacher.

  5. What lesson have you found the most important till now?

It is difficult to decide which lesson was the most important, though I would say that acquiring flexibility in perspectives was very helpful and still is.

  6. Do you think that we can stop learning at some point of time?

Learning is a continuous process, it never ends. Honestly, at some point of time, I used to believe that I am mature enough to live a life without any struggle, but later on I came to know the reality. Each phase in our lives comes with a lot of lessons to learn.

  7. Does teaching need a degree?

Well, in order to teach any known art or a course, one should possess a degree so that his/her techniques and concepts are not questioned. Taking this with an example, a therapist should have a degree in psychology to treat anyone, if not then it can be considered illegal. But, it is factual that we do not learn everything from an educational institute or known teachers. I think that most of the life skills are taught by uncertainties that take place in life.

  8. Did you learn more in school or outside school?

Personally, I used to go to school for fun. I learnt various things inside the school, though it was not taught by teachers but by experiences. Schools were for achieving academic heights, and grabbing good opportunities for further future. However, learning how to handle frustration of exams, enhancing self esteem and gaining some guts to take risks in life all occurred outside the school.
