IELTS speaking part 3 - Describe a place you would like to visit follow up questions
“Describe a place you would like to visit” follow-up questions based on that topic would be asked. In the actual exam, this session is conducted for about 4 - 5 minutes where you have to discuss questions about a general topic or question on your cue card.
1.What sort of apartment does the majority of people in your country prefer?
Actually, it depends on whether the individual lives in the city or the countryside. Most inhabitants in small cities reside in separate residences. Few metropolitan areas contain high-rise buildings. Depending on their socio-economic conditions, residents in rural areas live in homes made of mud or brick. In fact, the majority of the population in my city area rents their homes.
2.Do people in your nation enjoy inviting others as guests?
Indeed in my country, people love to invite others as guests as they believe in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam which means the world is one family. I think it is the best way to build up strong relationships and also they can relax their mind by sharing thoughts and memories.
3.Do people exchange gifts when they visit?
In my opinion, this is a custom that is gradually becoming extinct. Historically, people were highly formal in their relationships, and they never visited another's home empty-handed. People used to bring fruits and other gifts, such as clothing, on their visits but now people are growing less formal and no longer believe it is necessary to bring a gift while visiting someone. It is now restricted to the holiday season and special events such as birthdays and anniversaries.
4.What is the difference between the houses in the city centre and the suburbs?
In metropolitan regions, well-planned and organised structures give more living space for the city's growing population. However, urban sprawl is problematic to control since it is difficult to accommodate a growing population within a confined space. People, therefore, value living in the suburbs. Urban living offers a higher standard of living with all conveniences. Suburbs are the wide residential areas around major cities, whereas urban regions are the metropolitan centres. The cost of living in cities is more than that of living in the suburbs.
5.Which do you favour? A home in the suburbs or the urban core?
I personally favour living in the suburbs as it brings us closer to nature and we would not be affected by the growing population and the pollution that is caused by them in the urban areas. However, living in the urban core might give you all the luxuries at your doorstep.
