You must prepare a cue card that will be provided by your examiner for IELTS Speaking Task 2. You can find your topic on the cue card. For Example, In Describe a risk you have taken, you have to answer 2-3 questions that illustrate your topic. You have to remember that. Describe a risk you have taken - Model answer 1

Introduction
On a daily basis, there are so many things that are filled with risks. To begin with, I would like to talk to you about an incident where I took a risk and it turned out to be in my favour.

What it was? 
After completion of my graduation I wanted to pursue a career outside the native nation. Initially, it was tough to convince my parents but somehow they agreed to send me to Canada for which I approached. Moreover, after all the procedures I was waiting for my visa and at the end while the wait was over I got rejected. Soon, we applied for the second time after covering and considering all the previous points mentioned in rejection. Unfortunately, I got rejected a second time because of the temporary stay.

Why you took it?
To be honest, I did want to go out, build a career and be successful. Therefore, I did not lose hope. Everyone around me told me to quit but I did not give up and applied for the third time without any second thoughts. The major risk was that we took out a loan and for the former rejections I already spent a lot of money for visa file process, medical for the second tie and college application fees. In addition to this, I also started to study online from Canada’s top most college namely- Seneca and if I get rejected for the third time I’ll have to pay a certain amount of fees for the college and it would be difficult for my parents to clear out the loan despite all such expenditures.

What the result was?
After applying for the third time, after such a long wait,I finally got my visa.

How you felt about it?
It was completely overwhelming and the wait was totally worth it. I was so happy and most importantly my parents were happy. Soon after I got my passport request after two to three working days my passport was taken for stamping and the happiness on my face was countless. Once I received my stamped passport I booked flight tickets and started packing my bags.

Conclusion
Although I got rejected twice, it stands true that waiting is worth it as good things take time and surely it will happen if you stop giving up on the things you want.

Introduction
When it comes to risks it is not always a positive experience but sometimes if luck works it might turn into a favourable situation.

What it was?
Last year in the final year during the grand practical examination conducted by the university it was very difficult to answer questions for viva and at the same time had to take a transverse/longitudinal section of the given material and draw its diagram along with description. 

Why you took it?
During the examination period the environment was filled with tension and worries. Meanwhile, when I came across the last question I forgot the diagram and my viva didn't go well either. Still I drew the diagram  as I had a blur image of it but however I knew that it was not going to be correct and most importantly, my viva wasn’t that good. Therefore, after the examination I was pretty sad and felt like a failure.

What the result was?
In Spite of knowing that viva did not go well I still had to draw a vague diagram to get myself passed. Thus, it is must to say that I not only scored 80% in my examination but also I got a certificate of appreciation. 

How you felt about it?
 The risk saved me from failing and helped me grow my confidence and motivation to work hard. It was truly a risk as it can make my semester repeat but fortunately I passed my exam. There were no words to describe my happiness of appreciation and performance.

Conclusion
Without risks no success can be achieved. The things that are in your hand should be done even if there is risk in it as one cannot stop doing work or living life with the fear of risks. 

IELTS Speaking Part 3: Describe a risk you have taken  Follow-up questions

When the describe a risk you have taken cue card part is over, the follow-up question and answer session will begin. The 5-6 minute follow-up questions are primarily related to the topic of a given cue card.

1. Why do some people enjoy extreme sports?

There are several reasons why individuals enjoy extreme sports. Firstly, they love being surrounded by the green cover, under the sky and feeling fresh air. Secondly, these kinds of action sports for some individuals are entertaining and people who love to take risks in their life mostly enjoy such high speed sports.

2. Are action films popular in your country?

Yes indeed, out of rom-com, romantic, comedy, animated and action movies, the most highly rated film type is action as the stunts shown entice more and more individuals. Moreover, equipments such as guns, granades, bombs used entertaion more than any other film type.                                   
 3. Do you think it is a good thing if a leader likes to take risks?

To be honest, in my perception it would be totally wrong to take any kind of risk by the politician as the entire nation’s population would be at risk. Most importantly, one wrong decision of a leader can bring everyone into trouble. Thus, no risks are to be taken by any of the politicians for their own interest and success but they have to think of people first.

4. Do you think men and women will make a different choice about risk taking?        

Nowadays, every individual whether male or female takes risks in order to live life and fulfil their own desires. For instance, in recent times the rejection ratio is 50% for males and females travelling to Canada but still men and women take risks and apply to go out to make a future.

5. What about the young and old?

To begin with, youngsters do not take risks as they are more or less aware of any situation and they barely know what will cause risk and vice versa. When it comes to golden agers, I can surely say that after seeing many decades they have an expertise in decision making and living life. Therefore, they barely take any risk at this age.

6. Do you think taking a year off after completing school and before starting university is a risk?

Taking a year off before starting college will be advantageous in many ways. My first and foremost reason is that students can learn new things by visiting new places such as travelling to non native nations to learn and explore culture,learn language and traditions. Secondly, some students have to earn in order to pay fees for the university. Lastly, some students take a year leave to prepare for medical entrances and score good to get enrolled in government colleges.
