Model answers-1 Describe a time when you received money as a gift

Introduction:

Money is a pretty quick and straightforward solution for gifting. In general nowadays money turns out to be a good gift idea. Now here I am going to share about an incident when I received money as a gift. 

When did you receive it?

It happened during my last birthday which is on 16th october. Since it was my 20th birthday, my parents planned to celebrate my birthday party in our resort by inviting all my friends and families, neighbors and relatives. I received numerous gifts on that particular day, but one of my uncles gave money as my birthday gift. I remember he gave around 1000 rupees. 

What did you do with it?

I still remember, while my uncle was giving me the money he said that you should spend this money in a useful way. By taking his words I decided to buy a Tamil Novel book called “ Sivagamiyin Sabatham” because I am keenly interested in reading Tamil Novels. 

How do you feel about it?

I felt extremely happy that he gave money as a gift. Now it was my choice to get what I wanted. I am also happy that I was able to purchase the book which I wanted to buy for a long time. If he had given me any other expensive gifts I would have used it for a short time and discarded it when it got over or damaged. Since I got it as a book for the money he gave, I will treasure it for a long time in remembrance of him. 

I think that he did an excellent job, if he had given me some other gifts then it might have been used for a week or month and it would have become a useless thing. For example if he had given me a dress or makeup product I would have used it for a month, then when it becomes older and empty then I would have thrown them away. But now he gave me money as a gift. I would be able to buy this novel and it helps me to learn more about the historics.  

Conclusion: 

In my opinion I felt that it is a good idea to give money as a gift. Because sometimes they won’t like our gifts which we brought as our choice so to avoid this it is better to give money as a gift, it helps them to buy whatever they need.

Model answers-2 Describe a time when you received money as a gift

Introduction:

Well, a gift is something that is offered by one person to another person during their special days as a token of love without expecting anything in return. It may be dresses, gadgets, books etc.. Here I am going to share about my experience when I received money as a gift and what I did with it. 

When did you receive it?

The unforgettable financial present I have ever received was Rupees 50,000 from my professor on the occasion of my graduation from my college. As I was a rank holder in my college, my professor would always tell me that he would definitely give me a gift as a sign of appreciation. As he said, he surprised me with a generous gift on the day of  graduation. 

What did you do with it?

I had no clue about the gift when I received it. When I came back home and I unwrapped the gift, I was really shocked that he had given me a financial present with Rupees 50,000. Without any second thought I decided to buy something useful for my studies. Then I decided to buy a laptop by adding my savings along with the money he gave. 

How do you feel about it?

I was really so happy with the gift he gave and was feeling proud that I got it for achieving in my studies. This unexpected present had given me hope that I might thrive in my higher studies. This incident motivated me to concentrate more on my academics and perform well in my classes. 

Conclusion:

I will always be grateful for the affection and trust which my professor had on me. 
Apart from that, in my college days, he always encouraged me to pursue a career as a professor after completing my studies. I am doing my masters now and soon will become a professor and encourage many students as my professor did. 

Model answers-3 Describe a time when you received money as a gift

Introduction: 

A gift will never fail to make us smile while we are receiving it. Also gifts from others reflect that people want to send kindness to you. Here I am going to share about the time when I received money as a gift. 

When did you receive it?

Few months ago I completed my professional degree (MBBS) and a week ago I got a job in a reputed hospital as a general doctor. As a token of appreciation my sister had given me money as a gift and it was around 10,000 rupees, also it is my first ever gift that I am receiving as money. 

What did you do with it?

Since it is a gift given as a token of appreciation for my first job, I thought that I should utilize it wisely. So I decided to buy something that would aid me in my work on a regular basis, therefore I opted to buy a stethoscope. Though I already own a conventional stethoscope, I felt it was necessary to buy a new one because the current one I have was bought during my college days. Not only that, I thought about upgrading my stethoscope into an electronic stethoscope while joining the new job.

How do you feel about it?

It was an unexpected gift that I received and it made me as in cloud nine. Also I was overwhelmed with happy tears. Whenever I see the stethoscope, it serves as a poignant reminder of how lucky I am to have such a supportive family. 

Conclusion: 

I was really grateful to my sister for her love and care she had shown me, also I really love her for her conditional support she gave me. Even though the gift was very special to me, the giver of this gift is more special than the gift.

Model answers-4 Describe a time when you received money as a gift

Introduction: 

We all have come across an incident where we got a complimentary gift with the product we bought. It may be a free product or gift voucher with money, or one plus one offer. Here I am going to share about the incident where I got money as a gift from a shop. 

When did you receive it?

A couple of months ago, I went to the popular clothing store called Trends which is located near to my home. I went there to buy a dress for my nephew, and since my bill was above 2000 rupees, they offered me a gift of rupees 1000 in the form of a voucher. 

What did you do with it?

As they were given this gift in the form of a voucher, they mentioned that it could be used only during our next purchase and we should be able to buy anything from only the same store. So after a few days I decided to use this voucher to buy clothes for myself, also I have bought some accessories and beauty collections like lipsticks, and nail polish. 

How did you feel about it?

I think it is a good idea and strategy to attract customers and to develop their business. By offering a gift voucher to the customer after they purchase something from the store, it makes them visit the shop again to use the gift voucher. 

Conclusion: 

Since it was my first experience purchasing something using gift vouchers, out of my excitement I purchased more than the amount in my gift voucher. This resulted in me receiving another gift voucher but this time I got rupees 2000 as a gift. 

IELTS speaking part 3- Describe a time when you received a gift as a money follow up questions.

Yes, it really works when the customers get many free gifts. It makes them want to visit again and again. Also sometimes people motivate others to visit the shop especially for their gift this helps to develop their business.

4. Can the excess of free fights have a negative impact too?

Yes, it has a negative impact. Sometimes people become more addicted to buying the product, especially for the gifts, while buying too many gifts it turns out to be useless.

5. Is it important for children to have the right attitude towards money? 

Yes, parents should teach their children about the value of money. It is also good and helpful for their future, because for this they will learn how to spend the money and to save the money.

6. Is it important to teach children how to manage their pocket money?

Yes, it is important that children should be taught about managing their pocket money by their parents, because it wasn't that they started spending their whole pocket money in a day for unnecessary things and it became a habit to them. By teaching them about how to manage their pocket money it will help them in future.

7. What do you think of the saying love of money is the root of all evil?

The love of money or excessive focus on wealth will lead to negative outcomes like selfishness, loyalty and affections.

8. What kind of occasions require people to send money as gifts?

People send money as gifts on many occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, marigers and also in social gatherings. Especially in India I feel now-a-days many people are giving money as a gift even if their loved one visits their home.

9. In your country, do parents give children money for doing housework?

No, in India people do not give money to their children for doing housework. They felt it is their responsibility to do the houseworks and the children should get practice doing all household work.
