IELTS speaking part 1 Social Media Vocabulary

Given below are some IELTS Social Media Vocabulary that's used for giving the speaking part 1 answers.

1. Which social media apps do you use?
I use only Instagram as of now as most people my age use it. Earlier I used to be on Facebook. Now I have deactivated my Facebook account.

2. How much time do you spend on these social media apps?
I devote a lot of time to scrolling through social media feeds. I spend at least 5 hours a day on my phone looking at trending topics on Instagram. I enjoy reading memes and trolls which I find very hilarious.

3. What type of information do you put on social media?
I don't put any personal information on my social media handles. I mostly put beautiful pictures of places I have been to. My profile almost looks like a photo album of my travel.

4. What do you dislike about social media?
Social media is very addictive. I hate that I spend a lot of time on something that doesn't add any value to my life. People use social media to spread fake information which makes it difficult to believe what I see on social media.

5. What type of friends do you make on social media?
I mostly try to make friends who are in college and places of work or in the city I live in. I don't have many followers. I keep my friend circle small even on social media. I do randomly get a few DMs sometimes from strangers.

IELTS speaking part 2 Social Media Vocabulary

Now you can learn the IELTS Social Media Vocabulary for answering the speaking part 2 questions.

Describe a social networking platform you use.

You should say:
what it is
why you use it
what benefits it offers

I have seen many people using TikTok, Sharechat, and many other apps on their phones. But I only use WhatsApp right now.

Whatsapp is a messaging application that we can use on our phones and computers. We can send messages through text and voice. We can also perform video calls using this app. We should register on this app using our mobile number and we can message others if we have their phone numbers. It is a very convenient and easy-to-use application that is useful in our daily lives. This app has become a part of my daily life that I cannot think of not using it for a day.

I use this for interacting with my friends and family and also for official use. I get updates on my work on WhatsApp which is more convenient than using e-mail. I stay away from my family. So I use WhatsApp to video call my parents so I can see them. If we receive messages from unknown people we have the option to report and block these numbers.

Social media has its pros and cons. If you can use it wisely we can use social media to improve the quality of our life.

IELTS speaking part 3 Social Media Vocabulary

Here are some IELTS Social Media Vocabulary that will be useful to answer the speaking part 3 questions.

1. What are the popular social media sites among your generation?
Nowadays, Instagram and Twitter are the most popular social media platforms among people. Instagram is a photo and video-sharing platform and Twitter is a micro-blogging site.

2. Is using social media a social or solitary activity?
In my opinion, using social media is a solitary activity. It doesn't require a person to interact with other people to use social media. Many people use social media to stalk other people and they do it when they are alone.

3. How has social media changed social behavior?
Social media has actually made us less social. We have reduced our interaction with other people because we have isolated ourselves from the real world. We live in a virtual world where people hide their real life and show only their happiness.

4. How has social media changed the way we communicate with people?
A few years ago, we had to call other people on the phone to tell them something. But now with apps like Whatsapp and Telegram, people have switched to texting. The calls we do have reduced because it is more convenient for everyone.

5. Why do you think bullying on social media has become so widespread?
Social media is uncensored and people find it a place to tell anything they feel without understanding the impact it creates. Social media offers complete anonymity and it is easier for them to get away with cybercrimes. So people started cyberbullying those who they dislike using fake profiles.
