The two maps below show an island, before and after the construction of some tourist facilities

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

This question is given in the Cambridge IELTS 9 test 1 writing task 1

The two maps below show an island sample essay 1

The two maps depicted the development that was made before and after the construction for the benefit of tourists. By comparing the two maps of the island, there was a visible difference that previously only the beach and sea with some trees existed.

The map shows that before the renovation there was only a beach, after it has extended with the swimming area. Even after the development the trees and plants haven't been removed. There are many new tourist facilities built such as accommodation, restaurant, and reception places for the travellers. 

A pier came into place for the people preferring boating. From the pier, there was a vehicle track which leads to the reception and the restaurant. And, there was a footpath which has been constructed to visit the accommodation areas. The residential areas were situated on both sides of the reception area. 

Many amenities have been developed for the comfort of the tourists. Despite the facilities, in the north-eastern area the bare land remained the same.

The map illustrates the reconstruction of the island which is easily accessible and for the convenience of the tourists. After renovation there are many facilities for the tourist to accommodate, have food, to swim, boat, and can reach the receptionist for any requirements.

The map shows the beach, sea and some trees here and there with the majority of the empty space before the improvements. After the construction, there is a swimming place near the beach. There are many residential plots in the middle of the land and some were built near the beach. To reach the bungalows from the beach, tourists can utilise the footpath that was newly built.

While there are many accommodations on both sides, in the middle of those there is a restaurant and the reception area was developed. A pier was constructed in the south for boats and from that place, there was a vehicle track which led to the reception and the restaurant.

To conclude, the map shows the immense development of the island that was made for the benefit of tourists with the expected facilities without destroying the trees.

The two maps below show an island sample essay 3

The two presented maps show the before and after construction of the island with various amenities for the tourists. The before map shows the bare land with some trees, beach and sea whereas after the island was renovated as tourist friendly spot with huge infrastructures.

Before construction there were many vacant spaces with beaches on the west. But after renovation it was converted into an island that matches the comfortability of the tourists with buildings of accomodation, restaurant, reception, pier, and swimming area. 

Restaurant and reception is in the centre while the residential buildings are on both sides. Swimming area is constructed near the beach and from there tourists can reach the bungalows by using the footpath. Pier was built in the south of the land and from which tourists can visit the reception and restaurant through the vehicle track.

On the whole, after improvements the island was turned as a tourist destination with many facilities without ruining the beauty of the island.
