Experts are of the notion that colleges and universities should focus more on preparing students for the workplace in terms of the skills and knowledge they impart. Whereas, a few others state that students should be trained for whatever career path they choose, regardless of whether or not they actually end up working in that field. I firmly bolster with the former viewpoint. Both sides are discussed in the ensuing paragraph.

The foremost reason for my inclination is to equip students with skills and knowledge applicable to their future careers should be the primary goal of higher education. Students primarily attend college to acquire the necessary knowledge to pursue their ideal careers. A student aspiring to a career in medicine, for instance, would submit an application to medical schools. And he ought to expect that college will provide him with all the necessary tools and knowledge. He anticipates learning from his medical school professors about how to connect with patients, how to properly administer medication, how to diagnose a patient's condition, and how to counsel healthy lifestyle choices. Universities risk losing public trust if they fail to equip their students with marketable skills and knowledge. 

However, if we believe that the university's true purpose is merely to provide access to knowledge, then there is little to choose between self-study and formal classroom instruction. This will lead students to believe that going to college is a waste of both their time and money. The university has lost its compassion and its ability to educate its students if it does not consider the practical implications of what it teaches its employees.

The primary reason for this predisposition is that students will receive a greater return on their university investment if their coursework genuinely prepares them for the workforce. 

People who are interested in acquiring knowledge for its own sake can do so for little out of pocket expense by reading or purchasing appropriate books or online courses. Students take on substantial debt to finance their education at university, with the expectation that they will one day graduate to a well-paying job that will allow them to live comfortably.

In addition to this, universities, being significant parts of society, also have a duty to produce graduates with skills in demand by employers. As a result, the direction in which society is healing is reflected in the types of talents that are in high demand. The maturation of emerging technologies like virtual reality, for instance, depends on organisations competing for the best and brightest graduates with degrees in computer science. Many industries risk stagnating if universities don't produce workers with the skills sought after by businesses.

To put in the nutshell, the goal of higher education should be to get students ready for the workforce. If it doesn't, colleges will be failing in their social responsibility and students will have squandered their money.

That's why I think educational institutions should tailor their courses to provide their future workers with professional growth possibilities.

It's not surprising that this is the case given that modern jobs are increasingly specialised in nature, making it essential for employees to possess the skills necessary to fulfil each and every one of their duties. After finishing school, a person is expected to take on all of the duties associated with their chosen profession, including the knowledge and skills necessary to complete the many difficult and time-consuming tasks that come with doing so successfully. For instance, I was required to have a part-time teaching job as soon as I finished the Faculty of Philology. The theoretical knowledge I had acquired during my education was completely unnecessary compared to the practical requirements imposed by my employment.

However, it is undeniable that most positions would call for workers who are adept at multitasking and who are able to operate under pressure to complete projects on time. Instead of hiring extra people to fill vacancies, it seems that large businesses would rather hire one individual who can do the work of numerous people. Despite the cutthroat nature of business, there is always a great need for top-tier experts in a certain field. This can happen if schools improve their curriculum and provide pupils more opportunities to put what they learn into practice.

In conclusion, higher education institutions should focus more on their fields of study to give graduates the greatest and fastest results. Academically trained people can succeed in their fields and support themselves for life.
