Describe a person who apologized to you Model answer 1

Introduction

There are numerous events happening in everyone’s life, and we all know that events have consequences that affect us directly or indirectly. The events can not be reversed but we have a concept of saying sorry and conveying an understanding and guilt. I have also been through some incidents where I received an apology, which made it easy for me to move on.

Who the person was?

It was my brother who apologized to me this time. Usually, he never does whenever we go through a quarrel. This time I wondered with joy as it was so mature and genuine of him to come to me and say sorry.

When it was?

Recently, my brother and I made a plan to visit a concert because one of the famous singers cum rappers was invited there as a guest. The singer was his idol as he has been fond of rap and write-ups. Both of us were excited to cheer him on and record him. But as we got nearer to the place, I started feeling pukish, and soon I felt like not going in the crowd. I was unable to stand heavy lights and loud sounds, however, my brother was too excited to notice. I had to shout at him and cancel the plan on the spot. We traveled by single vehicle so it was quite obvious that if I felt like going home, he would have to miss his concert too. He argued a lot and eventually started behaving rudely towards me. He kept yelling at me till we reached home and then suddenly stopped talking to me.

Why this person apologized?

However, the next day he apologized to me and accepted that the loss of the opportunity to listen to his favorite person overpowered his awareness and sensibility.  Firstly, I thought that he might need my help with something and that might be the reason for apologizing to me. But later I realized that he truly built an insight and felt like expressing his feelings to me.

Explain how you felt about it.

Initially, I burst into tears. It was a relief to hear him say that he understands. I believe that after some point in time people stop expecting genuine and obvious actions from the other side, but it was so humble of my brother that he kept his perspective aside and empathized with me. I felt like growing up to the extent of understanding the true meaning of apology can not be harmful to anyone’s self-respect but can enhance one's relationships for sure.

Conclusion

In the end, I would say that an apology is much more than just expressing guilt. When a person truly apologizes I would never think of losing that person in my life as it is quite rare to find people giving importance to relations over their losses.

Describe a person who apologized to you Model answer 2

Introduction

  • We all frequently make mistakes in life, sometimes on purpose and sometimes by accident.
  • I always make an effort to apologize for my mistakes, and I also expect others to do the same.

Who the person was?

  • The person I am talking about here is my friend Kavya.
  • She was my best friend a few years ago.
  • There is no current dispute existing between us, though we had been through an event that literally made us just an acquaintance to each other.

When it was?

  • We were like sisters in sixth grade.
  • Our bond was so good that if she was not present in the school, it was understood that I would not be there too.
  • After a couple of years, Kavya met a girl who had recently moved to the city and enrolled in the school.
  • She was comfortable with her and started to hang out with her. It did not bother me as such but I started feeling unusual when I used to hang out with them.
  • At the end of the year, our classes just shuffled. I was in a different section from that of Kavya and the new girl.
  • I made new friends too and gradually lost contact with her.
  • After the other two years of high secondary school, during the farewell, she apologized to me.

Why this person apologized?

  • She apologized because she might have understood what had happened between us previously.
  • She felt sorry and did not hesitate to open herself in front of me.
  • Also, it was the last day of high school and just like me, she too might have thought to conclude things in a good manner with everyone, so that there is no bias left in mind in the further journey.

Explain how you felt about it.

  • Of course, it was a relief to hear something that I was expecting to hear for a long time.
  • I had a feeling of injustice during the years but after I accepted the apology, that discomfort and victim mode just lightened.
  • All the years of betrayal just turned into a lesson with a good ending in a moment.

Conclusion

  • In the end, I want to share that even today, I and Kavya are not the same as before, although we meet each other on birthdays, and with no bitter memories at all.
  • Hence, even if an apology does not fix everything, it definitely diminishes grudges and bitterness.

IELTS speaking part 3 - Describe a person who apologized to you

You can review the follow-up questions for “Describe a person who apologized to you.” This discussion round will take about 4-5 minutes and you have to elaborate on your answers to the examiner.

  1. Is it important to say sorry?

Apologizing or saying sorry has always been considered and taught as one of the golden words since primary school. Previously, I used to say sorry as I perceived it as one of the basic manners, now I consider it important to say sorry because it can save my relations as well as implies a good impression in human minds. Informing the injured person that you realize it was your mistake and not theirs makes them feel better and helps them maintain their composure.

  2. In what situations do people say sorry?

People usually say sorry in circumstances where they are at fault. Sometimes smart people step in front and apologize even when it is not their fault just in order to save time and energy as well as to maintain a good atmosphere and put an end to unusual disputes.

  3. Why do some people hate to say sorry?

Some people think that saying sorry every time would be harmful to their self-respect, apologizing can make some people feel vulnerable, or feel like they are in danger of losing their power and status. I think this happens when the concept of saying sorry is misunderstood. Some people even do not like to say sorry because they expect others to justify themselves.

  4. In what situations should we apologize immediately?

We should say sorry immediately in situations where we mistakenly bump into others, and step on their feet unintentionally. And obviously, we should apologize as soon as we realized that we have hurt someone unknowingly.

  5. When do people say thank you?

Saying thank you is the other golden word after sorry which has been taught to all of us since we were toddlers. It is important to convey gratefulness towards someone, and saying Thank you is the easiest and most common way to do so. I believe in the energy of positive vibrations, which is why I feel it essential to appreciate someone’s effort and express thankfulness.

  6. When was the last time you found it hard to accept an apology?

Well, usually I accept an apology but it becomes difficult when I am not able to trace whether the person really means his words during the apology. I can not accept an apology where the grief of loss overpowers the relationship or any reason that the person gives.

  7. Do you think accepting apologies is always the correct thing to do?

According to me, an apology is all about moving on from uncertainties or mistakes. But not everyone understands the true meaning of an apology. Basically saying sorry means that the person has realized that he/she has hurt unintentionally and now the same thing will be kept from repeating. Sometimes people say sorry just for the sake of saying it, which is why I believe that one should not accept an apology until it is clear that the person is guilty and has understood the severity of the loss.
