Follow-up questions for “Describe a situation when you were late” are given below. In the actual exam, The IELTS speaking part 3 - follow up question session is conducted for 4-5 minutes where you have to discuss questions about a general topic or question on your cue card.
1. What are some reasons people could be late for a schedule or a meeting in your country?
In my country, traffic congestion is a common cause of individuals being late for appointments or meetings. People may also be late owing to unforeseeable events such as public transportation delays, emergencies, or unanticipated work commitments. People may also misjudge the time it takes to go somewhere, causing them to be late. Finally, cultural variables such as a casual attitude toward timeliness may lead to tardiness in particular settings.
2. In your opinion, what types of excuses do people use when they are late?
People in my nation have a variety of excuses for being late, including poor traffic on the road, unforeseen situations, road accidents, oversleeping, getting lost or confused with directions, and public transportation delays. Other possible explanations include automotive difficulty, a family emergency, or a work-related emergency. People may also offer health-related excuses, like as feeling ill or having a doctor's appointment. It is worth mentioning, however, that some excuses may be real, while others may not be.
3. Why do some people find it hard to follow their plans?
I suppose there could be various reasons why some people struggle to stick to their plans. A lack of self-discipline or motivation is one of the most typical factors. People may set objectives or make plans, but often struggle to follow through because they lack the desire or determination to do so. People may also become overwhelmed or distracted by other jobs or duties, making it difficult to focus on their intentions. Unexpected circumstances or unexpected events that disturb one's schedule, a lack of time management skills, or unreasonable expectations are all issues that might make it difficult to stick to plans.
4. Do you think planning is important for time management? [Why? Why not?]
Yes, I feel that good time management requires planning. We set goals and prioritize things when we plan our time, which allows us to allocate our time more efficiently. Planning also allows us to anticipate and prepare for potential hurdles or challenges. We can approach our activities with a clear and concentrated perspective, which helps to minimize stress and boost productivity. Furthermore, planning allows us to make the most of our time by avoiding squandering it on unimportant chores or activities.
5. Is it important for children to learn to manage time? [Why? Why not?]
I wholeheartedly believe that teaching children to manage their time is critical. Learning time management skills can assist children in developing excellent habits that will benefit them throughout their life. Effective time management can assist adolescents in staying on top of their academics, extracurricular activities, and other commitments, as well as in developing a sense of control over their lives. Furthermore, time management skills can assist youngsters in developing crucial life skills such as self-discipline, responsibility, and accountability.
6. Do old people and young people similarly manage time? [Why? Why not?]
Because of variations in their lifestyles, experiences, and priorities, I believe that seniors and younger people may not manage their time in the same way. Older adults may have more established habits and schedules, as well as more experience with time management. Younger people, on the other hand, may be more prone to distractions and have less experience managing their time successfully.
When it comes to time management, it's worth emphasizing that individual differences can be more important than age. Some older people may struggle with time management due to health issues or changes in their circumstances, but some young people may be quite effective at time management due to their high motivation and attention.
7. How entrepreneurs manage there time?
Entrepreneurs are human being and therefore they also do the same thing as a normal human being does and they focus on small habits and make big different in there lives. Therefore a normal person should also focus on small habits which will help them to make big difference.
