What it was?
I will thus share a story of a time I misplaced something significant. My jacket, which I purchased from a local merchant abroad, was the item that I lost. It was pricey and really elegant. It had a distinctive striped design and was black in color. For a year, I had been using it. Losing something that had been with you for a while was quite depressing.
How you lost it?
I attended my cousins wedding and was returning to my hometown. To prevent the hassle, I had purchased the train ticket in advance. The journey from Mumbai to Vadodara took around five hours. Meanwhile, I removed my jacket since I felt uncomfortable; I'm not sure if I put it back in my luggage or not. I reached Vadodara in the evening, utterly fatigued after the long and exhausting travel. My uncle was waiting for me at the station. We were on our way home when I noticed my jacket was missing. We ran back to the railway station, but the train had already left. We were able to call the appropriate authorities, but it was too late. Somebody had taken it.
Why was it important to you?
Since the day I saw my favourite actress wearing this jacket, I decided to buy it as soon as possible. I had spent all my savings on this jacket. It was a limited edition jacket from a famous brand.
How you felt when you lost it?
It was the first time I had experienced something like that, and while I was telling my parents about it, the tears began to flow. It seemed like after a long time that I had wept so hard. The reality that no matter how much I weep, it will not miraculously materialize in front of me, thus weeping over spilled milk is pointless. It was a tough lesson, and since then I become more cautious about my belongings. When I go now, the first thing I do is double-check my stuff.
