IELTS speaking part 3 - Describe your favorite sport follow up questions
The following are the follow-up questions for the topic “Describe your favorite sport”. The IELTS speaking part 3 - follow up question session is conducted for 4-5 minutes.
1. What sports are popular in your country?
I think that sports like skateboarding and snowboarding have become very popular in the last few years. There has also been an interest in extreme sports where people have to overcome certain natural obstacles or compete with others in different disciplines.
2. What are the major differences between ‘extreme sports’ and ordinary sports?
What makes dangerous sports different from regular ones is the level of fear they create. Activities like bungee jumping and skydiving might seem only for brave people, as those who are more cautious might not even consider trying them. However, these intense activities can be chances for us to feel new things and boost our self-assurance.
3. What do you think of expensive sports?
It all comes down to personal preferences and affordability when choosing sports. Some people play costly sports like golf or tennis, which might earn them respect from others. As for me, a less wealthy individual, I'm okay with that.
4. Why do people dislike playing sports?
From what I know, many people nowadays are really busy with work and don't have much time for fun activities like playing sports. Some might not have a choice and can't do certain sports they like. But, if someone truly despises sports, they might be dealing with mental health issues. Because generally, most people want to stay healthy, get stronger, or stay fit.
5. Do you think people should be encouraged to try some of these extreme sports?
I believe we shouldn't promote extreme sports because in some developing countries, safety conditions aren't good enough, leading to accidents. I've seen cases online where children got hurt on roller coasters because old seatbelts unexpectedly broke.
6. What are the benefits of playing sports?
Participating in sports has many advantages. Firstly, it helps us stay fit and feel less stressed. When we play games like football, we move our bodies and become stronger. Sweating during the game also helps us lose weight and improves our blood circulation. Besides staying healthy, being in sports lets us meet new people and learn to work together as a team.
