This part of the IELTS speaking test, the candidate will be given a cue card. The candidate should talk up to 2 minutes with fluency about the topic which is given by the examiner. We have given the topic of Talk about the war, along with some model answers and follow up questions.

Introduction:
   War is an intense armed conflict between states, governments, societies, or paramilitary groups such as mercenaries, insurgents, and militias. Here I am going to talk about the war which I know.

What the war was about?
The Russia-Ukrainian war is an ongoing international conflict between Russian-Ukraine, which began in February 2014. This war was the largest attack on a European country since World War II. The two states have been at war due to the fact that Russia engaged the Crimean peninsula in February 2014, and Russian-controlled armed companies seized Donbas government constructions in May 2014. Following the Ukrainian Euromaidan in 2014,  these activities are the reason for the beginning of the Russo-Ukrainian War.

Who fought it?
  Both Russia -Ukrainian soldiers fought against each other, and after a few days the Americans raised their  voice and support for Ukraine.

How you learnt about it?
  First I heard about this war in Television news channels and by reading the newspaper. And now I am learning and updating through the internet.

What happened in this war?
   The war in Ukraine has also resulted in significant loss of human capital, destruction of agricultural trading infrastructure, huge damage to production capacity, including through the loss of electricity, and the loss in imports and exports of international markets.

Conclusion:
  The conflict in Ukraine resists resolution not only because the causes of it continue to be in force. Although the death toll and economic cost continue to mount, both Russia and Ukraine can sustain the post-Minsk level of conflict indefinitely.

Introduction:

• People start a war for various economic, social and political reasons. Some of these reasons may include self-defense, response to injustice, aspiration for land or trade, or survival of the fittest. 
• Here I am going to talk about the war which I know.

What the war was about?

• World War I also known as the First World War, it is the Great War, was a global war from 1914 to 1918. It was fought among two alliances: the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. Fighting took place throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Pacific, and parts of Asia.

Who fought it?

• It was a war between the central powers mainly Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Turkey against the Allies- France, Great Britain, Russia, Italy, Japan and the United States.

How you learnt about it?

• While I was in school, I learned about this war in the subject History.
  Also I have more interest to learn about this war so i did some research and learnt through historic books and the internet.

What happened in this war?

• It was the deadliest war that involved more countries and was more expensive than other wars before it. 
• Over 9 million military soldiers died during this war, and over 7 million men were permanently disabled.

Conclusion:

• This war ended on November 11, 1918. When Germany and the Allies treaty of Versailles, Germany accepted their terms for signing the end of their participation in World war 1.

Introduction: 
  The common reasons behind the war is competition over land, religious, economic and nationalism. Here I am going to talk about the war, which I know. 

What the war was about?
   The Duar War (or Anglo-Bhutan War). Across the nineteenth century, British India commissioned multiple missions to Bhutan.Official documents always cited cross-border raids by Bhutan or sheltering of dissidents as the immediate cause; however, modern historians note Britain's imperialist ambitions in the region to be the actual pretext.

Who fought it?
 Anglo-Bhutan War  was a war fought between British India and Bhutan in 1864 to 1865. It has been the only military conflict between the two states since 1774.

How you learnt about it?
   I did my undergraduation in History. In that course we had separate subjects for  different categories like Ancient Indian War, Ancient World War, Medieval History, at that time I learnt about this war.

What happened in this war?
  Storming of Devagiri fort. The fort, known at the time as Dewangiri, at Deothang was dismantled by the British during 1865. The British initially suffered a humiliating defeat at Deothang and when they recaptured Dewangiri they dismantled the fortress there to deny its use to Bhutanese forces.

Conclusion:
  The bhutanese army was defeated in the Anglo-Bhutan war, commonly known as the Duar war. The “Treaty of Sinchula”, which was signed on NOvember11, 1865, brought about peace.

Introduction:

• War is generally fought between a state or a nation for various reasons. 
• It can happen between a couple of countries or between many countries. 
• Here I am going to talk about the war which I know.

What the war was about?

• The Israeli-palestinian war was an ongoing war and it is one of the longest-continuing conflicts. 
• The reason behind the war was who gets what land and how it's controlled. 
• Even though both Jews and Arab Muslims had claims to the land back for two thousand years, the current political war began in the early 20th century.

Who fought it?

• Contingents of four of the seven countries of the Arab League at that time, Egypt, Iraq, Transjordan, and Syria- attacked Israel.
• The conflict ended with Israel gaining significant territory.

How you learnt about it?

• One day while my sister was doing her school homework, I randomly took her social book and started to read it. 
• While reading that book I found this lesson which was about the Israel-Palestine war.

What happened in this war?

• The war in India has resulted with heavy loss of human capital, destruction of production capacity.
• But somehow during the British ruling they provided much infrastructure development and modernisation in the country.

Conclusion:

• War is unpredictable, as are its consequences. However, it is the job of militaries to prepare for and if necessary fight and win future wars, whatever the uncertainties. 

IELTS speaking part 3 - Talk about the war follow up questions.

5. What was the shortest war? 
    The Anglo-Zanzibar war was fought between the United kingdom and the Zanzibar sultanate on August 27 1896. This war lasted around 40 minutes. It is the shortest war in History.
