Model Sample Answer 1 Band 8 - A lot of places in the world rely on tourism as a main source of income. Unfortunately, tourism can also be a source of problems if it is not managed correctly. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of tourism in the modern world.

It is true that travel is a major source of income for many countries around the world. Visiting a new location has a number of negative effects on the neighbourhood if it is handled improperly, but I would contend that there are more advantages for a variety of reasons that I will go into in the subsequent paragraphs.

On the one hand, the tourism industry has some detrimental effects on the environment. First, the habitat of wild animals may be destroyed by the construction of new infrastructure and utilities. For instance, to accommodate tourists, businesspeople have built more hotels close to beaches and forests; nonetheless, a variety of wildlife may now be threatened or face serious survival risks. Moreover, since they lack a sense of obligation to preserve these environments, tourists generate pollution, waste, and even trash.

However, I think that going to a foreign destination is advantageous for both tourists and governments. Travelling broadens people's perspectives and thoughts. For instance, while travelling, tourists encounter various cultures and pick up new languages. Additionally, it opens up job prospects in the provision of services like lodging, entertainment, and transportation. Most importantly, since the tourism industry is crucial to various economies, it raises living standards in the area. Another illustration of this is how the tourism industry encourages investment from multinational corporations.

In conclusion, I believe the benefits of tourism, such as expanding horizons, increasing employment, and adding to the national economy, exceed the reasons for disadvantages even though it has certain negative effects on the local environment.

Model Sample Answer 2 Band 7.5 - A lot of places in the world rely on tourism as a main source of income. Unfortunately, tourism can also be a source of problems if it is not managed correctly. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of tourism in the modern world.

Today, and as a result of an increase in travel, tourism contributes significantly to the economies of many nations. The prosperity of the tourism business has both benefits and drawbacks, which will be covered in the paragraphs that follow. In my opinion, there are many advantages that obviously outweigh the disadvantages.

To start, one clear advantage is that travel promotes economic expansion. In other words, tourists frequently shell out a lot of cash for lodging, transportation, meals, and other services. For instance, shopkeepers along Istanbul's coastline, a popular tourist destination, are instructed to offer unique products, which has boosted the local economy. Additionally, I firmly believe that luring tourists accounts for a sizable portion of the prosperity of growing nations. To grow, oil-rich countries like Iran should invest in other businesses like this one.

Planners should not overstate the benefits of travelling, as every industry has problems. In this regard, many nations have seen a sharp rise in the statistics of social vices, which is a worrying and significant issue. For instance, many travellers encounter criminals in East Asia and lose their belongings, including their camera, phone, money, and even their meals. The number of tourists will decline overall due to dangerous destinations if this issue is not addressed in a timely manner.

As discussed, the tourism business has many pros and cons. While the pros exceed the cons, rising traveller numbers do increase crime in some areas. However, it should not be overlooked that the tourism industry helps a nation develop in a number of ways. Today, tourism accounts for a large amount of many nations' income, thus they must take serious measures to control its pros and cons.

Model Sample Answer 3 Band 7 - A lot of places in the world rely on tourism as a main source of income. Unfortunately, tourism can also be a source of problems if it is not managed correctly. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of tourism in the modern world.

In any nation, the tourism sector is one of the main industries that generates revenue. This will encourage and explore the diverse cultures that various locations have to offer. If not handled properly, it can have adverse effects on both tourists and residents. In this case, I think there are more benefits to tourism than drawbacks.

Foreigners will learn about and explore the stunning attractions, culture, cuisine, natural beauty, and residents of the country they will visit, which is a clear benefit of the development of tourism. Visitors today enjoy their vacations by spending time with their friends and family and travelling to new locations. Increased tourism has a significant positive effect on both the local population and the economy. The government offers its citizens greater employment opportunities, including tour guides. Tourists also treasured their recollections of their travels and the experiences they had there.

There are some small issues that nations are having managing the excessive buildup of tourists. Some tourists disobey the laws of the countries they visit. Anywhere you go, especially if it's your first time, you should respect and abide by the regulations and policies. Traveling to Middle Eastern countries, where the Muslim culture and religion are more prevalent, is a prime illustration of this. There, things like wearing provocative clothing, such shorts and sleeveless tops, and consuming alcoholic beverages are severely forbidden.

In conclusion, anyone can enjoy visiting other countries and experiencing their culture, but travellers should exercise caution and abide by the laws already in effect. Both the visitor and the locals profit from this.

Model Sample Answer 4 Band 6.5 - A lot of places in the world rely on tourism as a main source of income. Unfortunately, tourism can also be a source of problems if it is not managed correctly. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of tourism in the modern world.

Every nation wants to showcase its past through various venues, including tourist visas. Few countries totally rely on this because tourism is their main source of income. By drawing more visitors, a well-run tourism destination can assist the economy. But if not managed properly, this industry could cause some issues for tourist areas. The pros and cons of the tourism sector in the modern period will be covered in this essay.

First off, encouraging tourism boosts the nation's economy and inspires a lot more people to discover its natural beauties. As people begin spending money on worthwhile items in the country, it will immediately contribute to the nation's revenue, which can aid in the reduction of poverty. For instance, Australia, a tourist destination, uses the money it receives from visa sales to meet the needs of its own citizens. Only well-managed nations encourage exploration because they feel safe. New Zealand's fair approach to foreigners has raised tourist visa applications by 40%.

Second, if the country doesn't satisfy the explorers, it will have numerous financial difficulties and develop a bad name abroad. The number of people trading within the state falls, and countries that depend on this will struggle financially. To demonstrate, Iran failed to care for tourists, which lowered the number of visitors and made it the worst country to visit.

To summarize, tourism has grown as people travel to new destinations. There are several benefits to encouraging tourism, including increased economic growth and an increase in foreign visitors and vice versa. However, if not managed properly, the country may lose revenue and visitors may lose interest in such areas.
