Model Sample Answer 1 Band 8 - Without capital punishment (the death penalty), our lives are less secure and crimes of violence increase. Capital punishment is essential to controlling violence in society. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

No doubt, there have been numerous debates and discussions regarding the death penalty and the safety of the public at large. There have been differing opinions on the subject. Others believe the death sentence is unnecessary, while others believe it is essential for specific crimes to be punished this way. There are two conflicting opinions that will be discussed in this essay in order to find out which one is more acceptable.

People may assume that the death penalty is necessary because it lessens the severity of criminal acts at first glance. Several years ago in Taiwan and the United States, people were accidentally shot or stabbed by strangers. People feel that applying the death penalty is the most effective way to lessen public anxiety and dissuade criminals, therefore reducing the number of crimes committed. If crime rates are reduced and societal values are upheld, then I believe the death penalty should be utilized.

However, other individuals believe that punishment should not go all the way to death. As a first step, they realize that a short sentence in jail will suffice. They are also aware that, despite the fact that death punishment has been around since the beginning of the law, it has had no impact on curbing crime. There are several ways in which criminals might be put to use for the good of society under government oversight. These criminals may, for example, work in mines, which is a physically difficult task to achieve.

To summarize, both viewpoints seem to be viable since they both have a logical basis. However, for the reasons already indicated, I totally support the final point of view.

Model Sample Answer 2 Band 7.5 - Without capital punishment (the death penalty), our lives are less secure and crimes of violence increase. Capital punishment is essential to controlling violence in society. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

There is no denying that violent crimes have significantly grown in frequency in recent years. While many people think the death penalty is not the best way to stop this violence, in my opinion, it is very essential.

First and foremost, offenders must fear the repercussions of their behavior. This is significant because for many people, the dread of dying might be overwhelming and incite them to think about their act. Even watching another individual go through the experience makes them reluctant to continue. For instance, Saudi Arabia maintains stringent penalties for violent crimes like murder and rape, which is why the country's crime rate is so low. As a result, knowing they may be executed for their crimes may deter someone from doing them in the first place.

Opponents, on the other hand, assert that there is no solid evidence that the death sentence serves as a deterrent. The rate of violent crimes, including murder, hasn't changed considerably in those nations where the death penalty hasn't been abolished yet. The death penalty, in opponents' view, is neither a cause nor a remedy for a culture of violence. You can't anticipate that two wrongs can make a right since retribution is merely another term for revenge. They also think that supporters downplay the crucial reality that wrongful sentencing might result in the deaths of innocent individuals.

In conclusion, the government should focus more on excellent citizens than on inmates who have hurt society. A violent criminal should not be kept alive. These people should be excluded as quickly as possible to deter others with similar goals.

Model Sample Answer 3 Band 7 - Without capital punishment (the death penalty), our lives are less secure and crimes of violence increase. Capital punishment is essential to controlling violence in society. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Globally, delinquency is rising. Some individuals feel capital discipline should be prioritized to help make our lives more secure, while others disagree. This essay agrees with the statement because these types of practices instill fear in the mind of offenders.

To begin with, keeping a safe and secure environment is essential for a healthy society. To keep its people secure, the government should be concerned about crimes committed on its territory. Second, violent offenses should be punished according to their weight in the law in order to preserve order, since we need to get ahead of violence. Finally, the statement should serve as an example to others. However, there is always the possibility that the authorities may misinterpret the scenario, which is the most significant component of all. In reality, that is the only aspect that has to be revisited.

Some feel the death penalty should be used to eliminate crime. People commit wrong because they can pay the courts in advance to avoid atrocity forfeiture. Capital punishment reduces social misbehavior. This torment has no further justifications; thus they must die. These consequences make kids afraid to commit a crime. If the government prioritizes the death sentence, rape will decrease in Asian nations. The country's leadership should always implement the death penalty.

How terrible a misdeed is depends on which category it falls on. If the scandal is rape or murder, they must be executed, but if it's a robbery that doesn't harm anyone, jail time is sufficient. This article argues that legislation should punish evildoers to promote peace, prosperity, and security.

Model Sample Answer 4 Band 6.5 - Without capital punishment (the death penalty), our lives are less secure and crimes of violence increase. Capital punishment is essential to controlling violence in society. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

The highest form of punishment meted out to those who commit murder is death. Such severe measures are required to lower crime rates and make it abundantly clear to violent offenders that violence is forbidden by the law. I wholeheartedly concur that without this system, we would be more susceptible to violence, despite any potential drawbacks.

The death penalty is intended to be the severe warning for those who intend to commit similar crimes, reducing the likelihood that such crimes will be repeated in the future. As a result, it lowers crime in society. For instance, criminals who make headlines for crimes like treason, massacres, drug trafficking, etc. will serve as an example to deter other citizens from committing the same crimes. fewer criminals will increase community safety, resulting in a more secure society where people can grow most fully, intellectually and personally.

Finally, enforcing the death penalty will benefit society in the long run for the obvious reason that it will allow the nation to access a significant source of income from tourism and foreign investment. In other words, a lower crime rate will encourage investors from around the world to come to this nation and invest their money. This money can be used to finance a variety of societal endeavors, such as expanding the medical healthcare budget.

In conclusion, any society that wants to lower crime rates and make its environment much safer must implement the death penalty. Making society a safe place will also result in long-term financial gains that are greater.
