Model Sample Answer 1 Band 8 - Individuals can do nothing to change society. New developments can be only brought about by governments and large institutions. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

A healthy and happy life relies entirely on society, which is worsening as global urbanization increases. Some people think that governments alone are responsible for implementing new developments in society and that civilians are incapable of making any kind of contribution. According to me, every individual is important for society's growth.

Numerous government entities and institutions make major contributions to discoveries and developments that serve to bring about constructive change in society. For example, one of the top non-government organizations in India, Smile Foundation, helps underprivileged kids finish their education and secure a well-paying job. This program will help us reduce the rate of poverty in our nation, making it one of the greatest improvements we can make for our society. Even though these institutions offer help to the people, it is completely up to every individual to make the best use of this opportunity to advance both his or her ambitions and those of society.

Many different approaches can be employed to influence a shift in social settings. Even the smallest action toward a happy and pleasant lifestyle can be considered a change. Small changes made by people would add up to significant changes in their everyday schedules. For instance, many regions of the world are suffering from natural disasters. In these conditions, people could provide those who suffer with food or money to help them deal with their losses. People could also volunteer to help educate kids in schools and teach alternatives for people who can't read or write to generate revenue.

In conclusion, a government or organization is made up of different individuals, and hence, every person is contributing to the process of making society better. Their small contributions add up to more than what a government could provide.

Model Sample Answer 2 Band 7.5 - Individuals can do nothing to change society. New developments can be only brought about by governments and large institutions. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Today's world is governed and directed by governments and powerful institutions that have the power to make new changes that impact the lives of numerous individuals. Individuals try to change and make attempts to modify society, but it takes time for such improvements to take shape. I partially disagree with the statement about individuals not being able to bring about change.

A government or other significant institution is a group of individuals who share the same philosophy and work toward the same objectives. Then there is a guarantee that the change will happen. For instance, if the notion of a "Digital India" was only the vision of one particular individual, there is a probability that it may never turn out to be true. However, circumstances change when other organizations promote the same idea. It will take some time, but it will happen in the future. Perhaps we can only dream of it in the present. People in an organization collaborate on the concept, accelerating the process of bringing about change.

Individuals, on the other hand, may have the same idealogy and thought process as an organization, but achieving it is difficult and time-consuming because they must do everything necessary to achieve the vision on their own. However, I believe that every person can do something to bring about change. For example, in this advanced world, social media holds a significant impact on people; hence, we can influence and spread awareness about what can be altered and improved.

To conclude, the government and people should work hand in hand to bring about change in society. It is difficult for individuals to work alone towards the goal, but even the government’s efforts may go in vain if the citizens are not cooperative.

Model Sample Answer 3 Band 7 - Individuals can do nothing to change society. New developments can be only brought about by governments and large institutions. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

There are contradictory perspectives whenever the significance of citizens is mentioned. Some people feel that only governments and major organizations are capable of bringing about new developments. I completely disagree with the perception that individuals can do little to improve society.

While some individuals prefer to team up, others think that new developments can only be implemented by the government and major institutions. This argument is invalid since a big organization is formed by individuals, which implies that without humans, it will be impossible for the institution to accomplish anything.  I believe that each individual can help the country flourish in their own distinct way. They can provide their resources, such as money, clothing, and necessities, or they can teach their knowledge and ideas. For example, Thomas Edison was a scientist, inventor, and businessman who created several inventions that altered our lives. And now his concept has been embraced by the entire world.

I am certain that people can incorporate small changes into their everyday routines, which will result in a significant social transformation. Although a single individual's actions might seem small and even have had a minimal impact, they could have had a significant influence on the community in general. Furthermore, we believe that only large organizations can create change, but have we ever given an organization's establishment a thought? Naturally, we don't ponder a lot about this. We need a pioneer or a leader to create an institution or a small group of people. This is precisely why every individual is essential for the development of society.

To summarize, I believe that no one should overlook the importance of each person's participation or attempt to change because every great change in society begins with personal transformation.

Model Sample Answer 4 Band 6.5 - Individuals can do nothing to change society. New developments can be only brought about by governments and large institutions. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Even though most people credit the government with the absence of social security and poor living conditions, they are still aware of the important role they play in the development of their society. Governments are also influenced by the citizens. Governments and people should work together to create a better community setting as an outcome.

On the one hand, people sometimes perceive that they are incapable of bringing about any changes to society, which on the other side might be utterly harmful to society. Consider the Iraqi architecture known as the Azadi Tower, formerly known as Shahyad. Approximately a half-century ago, the architect Hosein Amanat designed it. Afterward, the government contributed funds to establish it; therefore, an individual's initiative has now greatly benefited the entire country. In reality, neither people nor governments gain anything constructive from just complaining about the issues at hand, because doing so does not yield any practical ideas.

On the contrary, and according to the same logic, governments play a significant role in the process of tackling economic and social problems. Large institutions with the resources should make every effort to protect people from social issues. For example, these big companies need to take steps to fix the problem, like holding counseling sessions to make people more aware and spread moral values, which won't work if people do not take them seriously.

To conclude, although both government and individuals have achieved social improvements on their own individually, in my perspective, if people and governments do not act together, it will be difficult to bring about positive improvements.
