Model Sample Answer 1 Band 8 - Large businesses have big budgets for marketing and promotion and, as a result, people gravitate towards buying their products. What problems does this cause? What could be done to encourage people to buy local products?

Globalisation has enabled the entry of multinational and large companies into local markets. These establishments possess huge amounts of funds, which they can use for marketing and advertising their products; hence, people lean towards purchasing their products. This causes difficulties for local and small businesses, which face loss of clientele, shortage of funds, and so on. The government can provide subsidised loans, and many more such steps can be taken.

The number of customers who are frequent from small firms is reduced considerably as a consequence of companies promoting their goods. In other words, small firms can't compete with giant corporations, as they have a strong promotional strategy that helps them attract a huge number of customers. For instance, microbusinesses struggle to advertise their goods as efficiently as big organisations, therefore causing customer collapse. Furthermore, as big businesses expand, many small businesses find it difficult to stay in business for long.

A few solutions are feasible for addressing these problems. One of them is receiving government-subsidised loans. A subsidised loan will help the business avail funds for marketing, which will make people aware of their products. The owners of smaller businesses are aware of their clientele; hence, they can provide incentives or discounts on their products according to the target market. This will encourage the individuals to purchase their goods. Such steps will aid in increasing the sale of small business items.

To conclude, local and small businesses suffer as a result of large corporations luring customers with appealing advertisements. And these can be resolved by the government providing subsidised loans, discounts, incentives, and so on.

Model Sample Answer 2 Band 7.5 - Large businesses have big budgets for marketing and promotion and, as a result, people gravitate towards buying their products. What problems does this cause? What could be done to encourage people to buy local products?

The functioning of trade associations is now driving the global economy, with many businesses operating on a local scale and many others being large and spread throughout the globe. These businesses spend a lot of money on marketing, which makes their commodities more alluring to consumers. This leads to an increase in unnecessary and excessive purchases, among many other things. Spreading awareness and using traditional marketing methods can encourage the sale of local products.

Purchasing goods from large businesses has certain drawbacks. In the beginning, individuals pick irrelevant things because of their exaggerated worth and relevance in marketing and as promotional items. As an outcome, individuals end up wasting a lot of money and incurring debt through borrowing from friends and family. Another issue is that children become opulent and demanding after witnessing the actions of large corporations. Children and teens are primarily the target audience for the marketing of these products. Therefore, purchasing products from big businesses contributes to consumer debt and more demanding kids.

To address this delicate issue, a variety of strong steps must be put in place. The first remedy requires the government to encourage the value of locally produced goods over those from abroad. For instance, the government could host set sessions for the general public to promote the advantages of local items over those with well-known brands, as well as the reasons why they are less costly overall. Also, if a business can't afford to use expensive marketing tools, it should use some simple methods to bring in customers and help other local businesses. For example, they can use some magazines, newspapers, and booklets that do not require hefty amounts.

In conclusion, huge corporations' pricey marketing methods have increased their sales. Unnecessary spending causes debt. Promoting local goods may help.

Model Sample Answer 3 Band 7 - Large businesses have big budgets for marketing and promotion and, as a result, people gravitate towards buying their products. What problems does this cause? What could be done to encourage people to buy local products?

The consumers are leaning towards the big companies to buy their products, which they are able to advertise by spending huge amounts of money. This causes problems for the local market, destroying it. Promoting and rewarding small entrepreneurs is a viable solution for assisting them.

The primary issue is that local items are being phased out of the market. People who used to invest and start a small business are now demotivated due to ongoing losses and a promising future. Consequently, there may come a day when the coming generation no longer sees local handicrafts or sewn clothing. For example, 4 - 5 decades ago in Bangladesh, local clothing manufacturers created a garment known as "The Muslin" for the entire country, which received enormous worldwide fame. Sadly, there is no Muslin, and the organisation is collapsing, with just a few individuals attempting to invest and gaining no profit.

The government can provide some additional subsidies on raw materials, exclude local goods from value-added tax, and encourage exporting to tackle these problems. Before producing anything, it is essential to have inexpensive raw materials. In order to establish a market both locally and globally, local governments must work together actively. For instance, the local pearl jewellery and handicraft products are promoted by the Philippine government, helping them become well known across the globe.

To sum up, the local markets are struggling to find a footing in the presence of big companies because they lose their clientele to the attractive advertisements of the latter. The government can help them by promoting their goods and giving them subsidies.

Model Sample Answer 4 Band 6.5 - Large businesses have big budgets for marketing and promotion and, as a result, people gravitate towards buying their products. What problems does this cause? What could be done to encourage people to buy local products?

Huge companies have been expanding their market position by heavily investing in advertising and promulgating their products. This has led individuals to be subconsciously prejudiced, preferring branded things over locally created ones, causing unemployment in these local businesses. To help small-scale firms, the government and companies must work together.

The majority of big businesses run engaging advertising campaigns in print, television, and digital media, combined with persuasive offers that convince customers to buy their goods. Local merchants, on the other hand, have limited funds and are unable to invest in advertising or marketing. Small businesses and local vendors have suffered huge revenue losses as a byproduct, which has led to unemployment. For example, retailers like Walmart and Big Bazaar sell clothing that has been imported from China at tempting discounts, which has led to the liquidation of local textile firms.

Governments and society together should promote local production to solve the problem. The first option is for the government to lower tariffs on local goods and encourage people to export them. Businesses will be able to make excessive sales to maintain their sustainability if fines are decreased. The following step consists of raising funds to support a firm that is just getting started. For instance, governments may establish public marketplaces where products can be displayed. All of these initiatives will eventually help small businesses by bringing in more customers and boosting their bottom line.

To conclude, customers are enticed by the advertisements promulgated by the multinationals using huge amounts of money. This is causing small businesses to shut down. The government should lower the taxes and help them promote their products.
