Model Sample Answer 1 Band 8 - Large shopping malls are replacing small shops. Do you think it is a positive or negative development?
A new trend is there among people to shop from big malls and branded showrooms rather than small-scale shops. There are as many benefits of this as its drawbacks and my views on it are shared below with appropriate examples.
To begin with the benefits, the major and most prominent reason why the mindset of people has changed from small shops to large shopping malls is the discount provided by the shops in the malls. Usually, there are more than 20% discounts in the malls which attract a crowd towards it. Besides this, in large malls shops people will be able to get premium quality products and one who sees the quality of the product more will definitely get attracted towards the branded shops in the malls.
Furthermore, People can get a variety of options in the malls which are lacking in the small shops in the city. For instance, if a person gets the option of 20 different shirts in small shops and 100 shirts in large shops then for the obvious reason he will prefer a shop which is giving him more options of shirts. Moreover, while doing shopping in the large malls, the citizens' time will be saved as in malls all kinds of items are available at one place while if he does shopping from small shops he would have to go to several places which will ultimately waste his time.
To conclude, there are so many benefits of shopping in large malls such as discounts on items, premium quality products, all kinds of items under one roof, etc which are attracting people to come there.

Model Sample Answer 2 Band 7.5 - Large shopping malls are replacing small shops. Do you think it is a positive or negative development?
Nowadays people are preferring large shopping malls in place of small shops by seeing the infrastructure, hospitality, etc provided over there, and sales of small shops are reducing continuously. I believe there are more negative effects of this ongoing trend than its benefits.
First of all, small shop owners who established their business for years will break down as the customers are preferring large malls over small shops. As a result, the income of the small business owners will dip down and they would not be able to bear the expenditure of the house. Furthermore, products sold in the large malls are quite expensive and all the middle-class families could not afford them. For example, a shirt that is sold in malls is 2000 but the same shirt would be available in small-scale shops for 500 which is quite affordable for middle-class families.
Coming to advantages, traffic problems will drastically reduce in almost all the cities as all malls provide parking to the customers which are not facilitated at small shops by which customers park their vehicles on the road and create traffic in that area. Moreover, unemployment will reduce to some level as owners of large malls will hire security guards and workers for cleaning the mall. As a result, the GDP of the country will increase.
To conclude, although there are many disadvantages of large malls such as the lower income of the small shop owners, and expensive products in malls, benefits of malls are also there like traffic problems will decrease, unemployment will also reduce in the country.

Model Sample Answer 3 Band 7 - Large shopping malls are replacing small shops. Do you think it is a positive or negative development?
In recent times, the sales of small shops are markedly diminishing as people's perspective is changing toward large shopping malls. In my opinion, there are many benefits of this ongoing trend as compared to the negative side. My view regarding this will be discussed below with proper examples.
To start with, shopping malls provide discounts and special offers on special occasions like festivals, national holidays, weekends, etc which customers will surely benefitted after going over there. For instance, if a watch price is 2000 rupees on normal days but on special occasions its price would be reduced by around 500-700 rupees which will be beneficial for the customers. Moreover, All kinds of items such as groceries, clothing, and books, along with food courts and refreshment facilities are there in the large malls which is beneficial for the customers as their time would be saved as all kinds of products are provided under one roof.
On the other hand, as large malls require more space to establish in one region, as a consequence land for housing will be reduced. On the other hand, in order to run a company there, a little quantity of land is required for small enterprises, which allows for a greater number of individuals to operate their businesses in that location.
To conclude, although malls require a lot of space to make over one place, they provide special offers, discounts to customers on special occasions and all kinds of products are provided over there which will definitely save the time of customers.

Model Sample Answer 4 Band 6.5 - Large shopping malls are replacing small shops. Do you think it is a positive or negative development?
In the last few years due to the establishment of large malls, small shop owners are facing problems in selling their products. In my opinion, this shift of customers from small shops to large malls definitely has positive development because it brings out to be a better option for the customer.
To begin with, there are several benefits of large shopping malls such as in the malls people can find a variety of options for shopping and at a distinct price as in from expensive things that item to mid-range all are available for the customer at one place. People can roam around the mall. The best for them in a mall strictly depends on their budget and personal interests. Moreover, products bought by customers in malls are replaceable so that customers can buy the product if their mind changes which are mostly not provided by the small shop owners.
Furthermore, Almost every retail mall has a roof, so it is always feasible to escape inclement weather. This implies that you will never have to dash between shops to dodge the rain or return home with wet items. The completely air-conditioned environment within the majority of shopping malls is a perfect method to beat the heat. Never love trying on clothing while you are hot and sweaty.
To conclude, it is debatable whether shopping in a huge shopping mall or in a collection of local stores is preferable; but, in my opinion, the advantages of large shopping malls to contemporary society far exceed the possibilities and conveniences afforded by small stores.
