In recent times, it is evident that English is given the first priority among all other languages. People from every age group find English as a very important barrier to keep a good image in society. Though this may result in the extinction of other regional languages, I believe that the acquisition of English language skills is currently very crucial.

Whether in the classroom or in the workplace, English has established itself as every country's official language of communication. A greater emphasis is placed on learning and using English. To keep up with the rest of the developing world, students are forced to take spoken English classes, even though they continue to attend government schools where English has not taken root. Moreover, being fluent in English is now seen as a mark of sophistication and elegance. A person who struggles to express themselves in English may face ridicule and even isolation.

On the other hand, a whole generation is being left behind in the workforce because they are unable to adapt to the changing language requirements. There is a significant amount of harm coming to regional languages due to the increasing prominence of one language. The words and grammar that were once integral to their culture are now lost forever. This causes the literature or creative art is written in these languages to become more difficult to understand, which in turn causes readers to lose interest. Thus necessary steps should be taken to preserve local languages. It should be parents’ duty to instill in their children a lifelong desire to learn these languages. Finally, the government could play a significant role in promoting these languages by providing financial aid to students who choose to do major in one of these languages. The fight to keep a language alive is not a small one, and everyone can and should do their part.

In addition to the monetary benefits, employees who learn English can take advantage of more lucrative job opportunities abroad. This way, the local languages could be preserved from generation to generation and taught to every student from an early age. One strategy to increase participation is to create a TV show that uses a friendly and entertaining format to teach local languages.
