It is sad but true that the museums and art galleries represent the cultural and historical works of non-native nations, and as a result some experts claim these places should exhibit the local lifestyle and society. I firmly agree with such a viewpoint. Both the viewpoint and my preference are elaborated below.

The first and foremost reason for my inclination is that every country requires its students to study their nation's history, but these lessons can feel impersonal and abstract. The opportunity to view authentic historical documents in a museum can revitalize history and inspire patriotism. The Rutgers Institution exemplifies this in the United States, which houses significant historical and cultural artifacts. Reflecting on the struggles and accomplishments of their ancestors can help visitors from various regions and ethnic groups find common ground.

However, it cannot be denied that more can be learned from international art by the general public. The majority of people are well-versed in the history of their own country but have a limited understanding of other cultures. Visiting a museum containing objects from all over the world is therefore an enlightening experience. For instance, the British Museum in London is renowned for housing one of the world's largest collections of culturally significant artifacts. By viewing and reading the plaques for a variety of artworks, both young students and adults can gain a deeper appreciation for the traditions, cultures, and events that underpin the modern world. This can eventually lead to a more inclusive and culturally diverse society.

According to a survey, 88% of visitors to the Melbourne Art Gallery felt more informed about poverty, war, and trade after visiting the museum than after reading the news.

In the nutshell, I do not support the notion that museums and art galleries should prioritise the history and art of their own country over international works, as the latter create a platform for globalisation and multinational knowledge.

They preserve significant cultural specimens, artefacts, and other items to commemorate our past and to aid historians in their research. Numerous national museums in Europe, for instance, focus exclusively on preserving artefacts and works of art from the nation, and they are extremely popular with international tourists.

Nevertheless, the modern museum concept has evolved substantially. There are now aviation museums, memorials to war, automobile museums, computer museums, and archaeological museums, among others. These types of museums require international collections to be popular and useful. The Motor Museum in Australia, for instance, has collections from over twenty nations that serve their purpose admirably. Museums with international collections are an excellent way to promote tourism, as they frequently attract tourists.

To sum up, National and traditional museums should prioritise the preservation of national history, whereas museums with international collections are necessary to make them more functional and well-known. The necessity and utility of one category does not necessarily diminish the necessity and utility of another.

Some specialists believe that art galleries and museums should highlight local artists rather than focusing on the history of other nations. Despite the significance of domestic goods for national cohesion, I believe that international goods are more valuable.

The primary reason for my preference is that locals would have no reason to visit museums and art galleries if they only displayed local artwork. By visiting museums and art studios that promote global work, locals can learn about foreign cultures, traditions, and works of art. Apart from this, the primary reason why local art and painting require more stimulation is because local artists find it difficult to compete with global artists who have already established their names and a large fan base. In addition, unless the artist is well-known, the field of art is not particularly lucrative. Due to financial constraints, many talented artists are forced to abandon their passions and dreams.

My second argument in favour of promoting global art is that if there is insufficient local art, museums may be forced to exhibit mediocre pieces, which may deter visitors. Concerns regarding the lack of platforms for local artists can be addressed in other ways, as I believe that good art will be supported and recognised. Instead of mandating that museums only exhibit indigenous art, the government can organise special competitions and awards for up-and-coming artists with exceptional skill and talent.

To sum up and state my position, it has become essential to learn about the customs and traditions of foreign nations because, in this age of globalisation, it is essential to learn about other countries in addition to one's own. However, it cannot be denied that presenting local art forms will help individuals learn more about their nation's history and traditions.
