Music has been present throughout history, from ancient times to the present day. It has undoubtedly been a part of human existence since the earliest days and will continue to be so. Here I am going to share my perspective about the topic Music has always been and continues to be the universal language of mankind.

Music has long been utilized as a means of expressing emotions, conveying messages, paying tribute etc. for instance, the national anthem is performed at sporting events to honor the nation, fostering a sense of loyalty and connecting with audience, this practice of playing the national anthem at sports events was began around 1862 and continues to this day. Additionally, it is also played in schools, colleges and at any government-organized events.

Music has influenced cultures and societies globally for many generations. For instance, music significantly influences our emotions, and mental well-being. While listening to music it can alter our mood, trigger memories and at some times, it will shift our emotional state. On the other hand, because of the developing technology people are able to listen to different kinds of music from the place where they were. Which helps spread one country's culture to another. For example, there is a growing trend among Indian youth for BTS, a Korean boy band, which has gained popularity in India due to their music. As a result, many young people are now watching K-dramas, trying Korean food and adopting Korean fashion.

Over all, I really agree with the statement that music has always been and continues to be the universal language of mankind.

Recent studies indicate that music can aid in alleviating depression and anxiety. Additionally, music therapy is recognized as a creative and holistic method for healing and fostering positive coping mechanisms. Music is also seen as a way to forge emotional connections, fostering a sense of unity and understanding through shared feelings. It transcends language barriers by linking people through the universal medium of sound. Additionally, music can strengthen bonds through shared experience, as live events like concerts encourage connections among attendees.

Model Sample Answer 1 Band 6.5- Music has always been and continues to be the universal language of mankind. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Music is something called a universal language, because it exists in every society and it connects different people from different locations. Here the given statement is Music has always been and continues to be the universal language of mankind. However I believe that it is not an universal language, in the following paragraph I’ll share my perspective.

Firstly, many individuals think of music as a universal language that can unite people around the world. It acts as a strong means of communication, self-expression, and emotional healing. Music significantly influences mental health and overall well-being, as listening to it can help alleviate stress, anxiety, and depression. Additionally it helps in connecting others with each domain of culture.

However, I believe that music is not a universal language because there are different types of music in the world, so it’s not possible to say that all music is universal. And it has no fixed definitions, so it can only be interpreted, not understood. Additionally, music carries various meanings, different individuals may interpret it in unique ways, and it can hold distinct significance for each person. Moreover, musical tropes differ across cultures, with each culture having its own musical traditions and values. For example, in western music, the “minor” scale is associated with emotions like sadness, anger or fear. In contrast many Asian and African musical traditions use these scales to convey feelings of joy, happiness and success.

In conclusion, with the above mentioned notes, I believe that music could not be the universal language.
