Model Sample Answer 1 Band 8 - Nowadays international tourism is the biggest industry in the world. Unfortunately, international tourism creates tension rather than understanding between people from different cultures. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

The increase in globalization has resulted in an increase in the number of tourists who travel to nations outside. Some people believe that the tensions between the two countries are getting worse because of this massive enterprise. I am against such a viewpoint; in the following paragraphs, I will explain my preference in further detail.
To begin, I would like to bring to your attention the fact that such trips have helped to strengthen international relations. This statement is misleading to a significant degree because it is a common knowledge that tourists who travel to other countries take the best that represent the finest aspects of those countries. This perception deepens the understanding, compassion, and love that exists between two cultures. Consequently, this causes development, and it also restructures the relationship. The enhanced relationship of India with other nations should be taken as the best example of this situation.
On the other hand, the fact that some visitors are subjected to racist insults while traveling to other countries is not something that ought to be ignored. It is frequently seen that some racial groups are consistently targeted no matter which country they visit. It should come as no surprise that the perception that they carry with them will not have an effect on the country's diplomatic standing.
To sum up, it is clear that such travels have more positive effects than adverse effects when compared to one another. It is imperative that we need to address the issues that are being experienced by the tourists and propose a workable solution.

Model Sample Answer 2 Band 7.5 - Nowadays international tourism is the biggest industry in the world. Unfortunately, international tourism creates tension rather than understanding between people from different cultures. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

It should be noted that due to the advancements that have occurred in the world, the number of people traveling to another country has significantly increased. This has, on occasion, made the situation more difficult and impacted diplomatic relations. I  bolster this opinion and would like to propose my arguments in the ensuing paragraphs.

First and foremost, it should be taken into account that there are numerous instances in which tourists have been put in dangerous circumstances as a direct result of their travels in other countries. Otto Frederick Warmbier, a citizen of the United States who resided in Ohio, is an example of such a scenario. He was accused of stealing a North Korean flag and sent to prison. He was obliged to work. He died after being in a coma for reasons the North Korean official never divulged. This increased hostility toward North Korea's regime structure.

On the flip side, it should be noted that one of the most compelling arguments in favor of fostering international tourism is the positive impact it will have on the bonds that exist between nations as well as between individuals. At the moment, international tourism is regarded as one of the largest and most powerful businesses in the whole world. Because of this, the majority of countries around the world would need to maintain positive relations with their immediate neighbors in order to safeguard this source of income. For instance, Sri Lanka is one such country that is majorly based on tourism. A huge part of income comes from this industry, which makes this very important for the livelihood of the people living there.

To conclude, it can be said that necessary actions must be taken to control any detrimental effects.

Model Sample Answer 3 Band 7 - Nowadays international tourism is the biggest industry in the world. Unfortunately, international tourism creates tension rather than understanding between people from different cultures. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

One of the largest industries contributing to a nation's economic prosperity is international tourism. It does produce some disagreements between locals and tourists. But these are not complex issues, so I disagree with the claim that it generates more tension than understanding.
To commence with, the experience of visiting a new country results in an interchange of cultures between the two countries' visitors. People tend to adopt a disposition that is more tolerant and open-minded toward all elements of life. People frequently find that traveling to wealthy countries causes a transformation in their worldview as a result of the experiences they have there. They are able to witness the advancements that those who maintain an open mind are capable of accomplishing. On the other hand, tourists arriving from wealthy countries would take up some important information from their hosts during their time in poorer ones. The influence of Western culture on other regions of the world is perhaps the clearest example of this phenomenon.
On the contrary, we have been witnesses to a number of cases in which overseas tourists have been taken advantage of. There are a lot of businesses that tack on an additional fee for certain services. Due to the fact that these individuals are ignorant regarding the products that they are selling, local sellers demand a higher price.

To summarize, I strongly disagree that international travel promotes conflict rather than mutual understanding between people of different cultural backgrounds. Tourism is the most effective method for being familiar with a distinct culture and bridging the gap that exists between cultures.

Model Sample Answer 4 Band 6.5 - Nowadays international tourism is the biggest industry in the world. Unfortunately, international tourism creates tension rather than understanding between people from different cultures. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

There are a lot of people who believe that traveling opens up one's mind. Having said that, this assertion is not completely accurate. It is my opinion that only a few weeks spent in another country is not enough time to acquire a sufficient grasp of the people and customs of that nation. My opinion will be elaborated on in the ensuing paragraphs.
Being a tourist in a foreign country presents a unique set of difficulties, some of which can result in hatred from the local populace. Initially, a foreign tourist is helpless and is commonly exploited by the locals. Due to the language barrier, there is also the possibility of misunderstandings. Moreover, travelers frequently have their vacations spoilt by the continual push to make purchases.
Additionally, the hospitality and tourism sector is a very essential component of any economy. Visitors from other countries contribute to the country's economy by generating revenue, which in turn enables the economy to grow. Therefore, the government makes all of the necessary accommodations for tourists and works to mitigate situations that could lead to friction between people of different cultural backgrounds. For instance, in all of the most popular tourist destinations, specialized tour guides are made available to international visitors to ensure that they do not experience any difficulties as a result of the disparity in customs, in particular with regard to the use of language.
In conclusion, I would say that I agree with the premise that global tourism leads to misunderstandings between individuals of different cultures, and that these misunderstandings are frequently the catalyst for conflict rather than celebration due to the inherent disparities between the civilizations.
