I totally agree with the assertion that our pastimes are more reflective of our shifting fashions than of our real interests.

Advocates of the notion that the most current trend or fashion signifies a popular activity may argue that it is more open to influence in this day of globalization. Children and teenagers, in particular, are vulnerable to whatever hobbies are popular among their peers. Another aspect is that the majority of individuals pursue hobbies to make friends rather than out of true desire. If you cannot even find a local community for your specific passion, loneliness and half-measures are likely to result. In order to establish new contacts, we can thus pretend to love a popular hobby.

Moreover, a number of popular activities might foster a sense of achievement. Despite the fact that some people may not partake in these activities, posting on social media may provide them with a feeling of success. As opposed to choosing activities in their area of expertise, the majority of people run marathons and post their exploits on social media because it gives them a feeling of accomplishment.
