Modern communication technology, such as smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices, is constantly evolving. Many people believe they have more disadvantages than advantages. I completely agree with this statement, as there are various negative impacts on society due to these technological devices.

One of the primary reasons for this would be the harmful influence of technological devices on people's brains. For instance, several reliable studies have revealed that individuals who frequently use these tools to establish relationships cannot succeed in their interactions. Moreover, using mobile phones excessively may lead to poor eyesight. People end up having near-sightedness and developing frequent headaches or migraine problems. For instance, approximately 40 percent of the American population suffers from nearsightedness every year. Excessive screen time would lead to children having poor eyesight right from a tender age.

Another disadvantage of using these devices is the detrimental effect it has on people’s mental health. In recent times, people usually prefer being home and surfing social media, and making friends online. They spend their time chatting and texting their friends through smartphones and social media. Reducing their real face-to-face interactions with people and causing them to isolate themselves. Isolation leads to the deterioration of one’s mental health; one can either fall into depression or even acquire eating disorders such as bulimia or anorexia. Hence, it is evident that there are numerous drawbacks, which cannot be overlooked.

To sum up, I strongly agree with the statement that the rapid growth of telecommunications has more disadvantages than advantages, as there are various adverse effects on people’s mental and physical health.

Smart technologies may harm people's health if they are used inappropriately. Users frequently keep staring at screens for long durations, which increases the risk of developing diseases like short-sightedness or even blindness. Moreover, excessive use of technological instruments might have a serious impact on people's mental well-being. For instance, a lot of studies show that spending so much time in front of a screen is often the cause of the majority of cases of depression and insomnia among adults. Additionally, it would cause tension and distress and seriously impair their cognitive functioning. Therefore, improper use of smart gadgets would be seriously harmful to people's health.

On the contrary, various features of communication technologies improve everyday life. Whenever people need to interact with others, these devices are very convenient. People can easily talk through the wide range of applications present instead of personally meeting face-to-face. These programs are easy to use because they are user-friendly. For instance, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on how many technology instruments are used for various activities such as working, studying, and video conferencing. In addition to preventing the transmission of the virus, it would also enable people to communicate while under quarantine. Thus, using devices can provide people with various advantages that enhance their lives.

To conclude, the advancement in telecommunications has brought about doubts in people’s minds about whether it will have a negative or positive impact. Although there are some drawbacks related to the usage of smart devices, the benefits that come along with them are much greater.

To sum up, the drawbacks that accompany the usage of mobile phones and tablets outweigh the benefits. Thus, I believe that this development of telecommunications has a more negative influence instead.
