Describe a time when you had some medicine Model answer 1

Introduction

Usually, I do not take medicine when I catch a cold or any throat infection. I rely on warm water and taking rest. I generally get affected by changes in seasons so I  believe to take precautions immediately after I see the same symptoms. However, this time I got a skin disorder, which was completely new to me.

When was it?

When I was a senior in high school, an incident of this nature occurred. It was the monsoon season, but I had to stick to a hectic schedule because I was in the middle of my school years.

What exactly Happened?

The rainy season made me itch. As a frequent traveler, I felt it was due to sweat and dust. My everyday regimen includes home-to-school, coaching classes, and piano lessons. My skin never reacted before, but this time it did. As the season went on, I noticed horrible marks on my skin. I started avoiding rain because I thought it was causing the itching. It began in summers and winters. The discomfort became unbearable, so I saw a dermatologist. UV rays caused it, not rain or dust. After the exam, the doctor prescribed me pills and a lotion for my skin marks. Two weeks, but I'll always wear gloves and sunscreen.

Did you recover from it?

Yes, luckily it recovered and my skin was all good just like before. It cost me a lot but what matters to me is my skin. So I am happy, and now I do not take even a slight risk when I go out.

Conclusion

To conclude, medicines are helpful if the right doctor is consulted. Knowing the source of health or body issues is complementary to the following medication. Today, I respectfully follow everything that my dermatologist asked me to take care of and even suggest my friends do the same so that they do not have to face the things that I had been through previously.

Describe a time when you had some medicine Model answer 2

Introduction

  • I would consider medicines as an outcome of scientific advancement across the globe.
  • However, it cannot be denied that there are numerous side effects of certain medicines.
  • My mother and I were very proud of not having any major health issues, and we used to show off that fact to everyone.
  • But recently, I completed my course in medication and therapies which were being provided to help me deal with certain emotional difficulties.

When was it?

  • I experienced being serious about some health issues and engaging in medication for quite a long time during my primitive years of teenage.
  • It was the time of developing new skills and gaining some real-world experience in life.

What exactly happened?

  • Well, there were a couple of events that happened to be a little devastating to me emotionally, but my mother and I were handling the difficulties together.
  • I had a few friends who were my life. Whenever I used to hang out with them, all the negative thoughts and victim consciousness used to just disappear.
  • However, after a year, we all faced some disputes and in the end, even after giving each other numerous tries, we all gave up.
  • Losing my only happy place and a good friend circle was quite difficult for me.
  • As I was already dealing with some trauma, I had to take help from professionals.
  • My school counselor recommended a psychiatrist, and I consulted her.
  • After observing me and my thoughts, she immediately handed me a prescription for medicines.
  • My mother got quite offended and was not able to accept it. Nevertheless, she got me the medicines with a little hesitation.
  • I could not understand her concern but as I started recovering from their intake, I noticed that I was getting addicted to a couple of medicines that were helping me to sleep.
  • As soon as I expressed this scenario to my mother, she requested my therapist to stop my medication and treat me with just therapy.

Did you recover from it?

  • I recovered from it very fast. It was all a matter of getting back to a healthy routine.
  • Some medicines helped me to sleep while some helped me not sink into a distorting mood.

Conclusion

  • To end it, I would like to say that medicines are to help you, and not to make you dependent on them.
  • Medicines can be really helpful but one should be aware of a proper intake of suitable doses to avoid consequences like side effects.

IELTS speaking part 3 - Describe a time when you had some medicines follow-up questions

Check the follow-up questions for "Describe a time when you had some medicine". You will have approximately four or five minutes to explain your response to the examiner during the IELTS speaking part 3.

1. What do you think of buying medicine online?

I think buying medicines online is a very good option over buying them through stores. Some of the advantages of ordering medicines from online platforms are, first, it reduces time and energy, and second that it is cost-efficient. Also, there is a possibility that some products like sanitary pads or oils for babies could get out of stock, in such a situation online shopping helps.

2.In your opinion, why do some people dislike taking medicines?

Well, some people refuse to take medicines as they are conscious of the consequences that they might face. It is a known fact that medicines contain a certain amount of steroids, which are quite harmful to the human body. Personally, my mother is so obsessed with Ayurveda, India’s own natural system of medicine and treatment, she never prefers medicines in any case.

3.Some people say medicine is harmful. Do you think so?

In my opinion, one should not be totally biased when it comes to medicines. Medicines are after all an output of a lot of study and effort. But medication taken in excess is hazardous. Anyways, I think it's best to take a tablet if it can relieve your pain.

4.What do you think of fake medicine?

Unknowingly taking bogus medications has been known to cause people to pass away or develop deadly illnesses. I think that those who are caught manufacturing fake medicines ought to face harsh penalties. Certainly, I've heard of placebos—medications that are given to patients for their psychological well-being rather than for any physiological effects.

5.Have you ever faced the consequences of taking medicines?

I have never been on medication so often. But there was a phase where I had to take pills. Some of them were prescribed by my psychiatrist and others were Ayurvedic medicines. Forgetting to take medicines rarely was very upsetting as my body and brain used to disfunction and that was clearly being shown in my behavior and sleep. The happening of this incident was quite obvious, but it actually made me feel scared and dependent.
