Describe an important journey that was delayed Model answer 1

Introduction

I live in a small village in the state of Gujarat. My village is very beautiful and has a lot of temples which are mesmerizing. Unfortunately, the road transport in my village is not fully developed and people struggle a lot while travelling. The head of the village has written a lot of letters to the government regarding this situation but no steps were taken by the law.

Where were you going?

After I completed my 12th grade, I had to give a medical exam named NEET. This exam was very important for me as it was a big step in my career. I got an examination centre which was far away from my village. I decided to use public transport for going to the examination centre.

Why was it delayed?

I left my house early morning and visited one of the temples in my village on the examination day. Thereafter, I got on a bus as I reached the bus station very early. While going to the examination centre, we noticed that many people were carrying some protests on the roads and blocked our way. After a lot of interrogation, we came to know that the reason behind this was a clash between two political parties. I was very worried as I was getting late for my examination.

What happened in the end?

The government announced a curfew because the situation was getting out of control. As a result, my exam got postponed. After such a tiring day, I managed to reach home safely. Fortunately, no passenger was harmed in the bus.

Conclusion

Thus, my important journey was delayed but I managed to handle it.

Describe an important journey that was delayed Model answer 2

Introduction

I live in India, a country full of pilgrimages. Every year thousands of people travel to religious destinations and pray for themselves. People find holy places interesting and motivating, whether they are personally religious or not.

Where were you going?

A few years ago we had planned a religious trip to the famous hilltop temple, Vaishno Devi. It was a two-day trip and every member of my family was very excited about this journey. The divine temple is visited by millions of devotees each year. In fact, the number of Yatris who visit the sacred shrine exceeds 1 million annually. This is due to the unwavering faith of devotees who flock to the temple from all over India and abroad. It was very important for me to visit this temple as it is considered one of the most sacred temples. Everything was planned and we had done all the necessary bookings.

Why was it delayed?

A few days before our journey, a deadly virus called the Covid-19 Virus hit India. We still had a hope that our journey can be possible. But nothing went according to our expectations and the situation became worse day by day. The virus was spreading like wildfire and many people got infected. A lot of people also lost their lives.

What happened in the end?

Due to all these problems, we canceled the trip, as it was not safe to travel in such a dangerous situation. After a few months of lockdown, we decided to plan this trip again and we were able to visit the temple.

Conclusion

Though our important journey to Vaishno Devi temple got delayed, we managed to visit it after a few months.

IELTS speaking part 3 - Describe an important journey that was delayed

The follow-up questions for “Describe an important journey that was delayed” are given below in this article. The discussion round of the IELTS speaking test might be conducted for approximately 4-5 minutes in which you'll have to answer questions associated with your topic.

1. Which mode of transport is the safest according to you?

Earlier I used to consider the car as the safest mode of transport, but after witnessing a lot of accidents on roads and highways, I had to change my choice. Nowadays I prefer travelling by train as there is negligible risk of accidents. Moreover, it is both convenient and cost-efficient.

 2. Which things should people keep in mind before traveling?

Firstly, we should be medically fit to travel to the destination. Moreover, we should also carry the required medicines. Secondly, we must carry the basic necessary things which are required in our routine lives. We should also take all our required identification documents as the need for these type of things can appear anytime.

3. How can travelling be useful to people? What do you think people can learn by travelling to other countries?

Travelling has a lot of benefits. Firstly people can get to know about different cultures and learn about the lifestyle of people from different places. Secondly, people can learn to come out of their comfort zones and do something adventurous. Planning a vacation is very exciting and thrilling.

4. Where, in our opinion, should people visit during vacations? What type of places do you recommend people visit during vacations?

It totally depends on the choices of people. I live in a city full of mountains so I prefer travelling to places like islands. People who live near beaches should visit hill stations as it will be an out-of-the-box experience for them.

5. How do you think commercial flights can improve?

The biggest issue in commercial flights is high food prices. Food is a basic necessity for every person, so food prices should be brought down. Moreover, commercial flights have a very confined leg space which makes it really very uncomfortable for passengers to travel long distances.
