Describe your favourite clothes Model answer 1

Introduction

In the current era, people are always conscious about what they wear. They follow the latest trends in clothes and try to look stylish. In such a look-conscious era, my favourite attire is a simple saree. A saree is a long cloth of cotton or silk which is draped around the body. It is an Indian outfit which is worn by almost every Indian woman.

What are they like?

It is a white coloured saree which has a pink border. My saree was made in Patan city of Gujarat. It is also known as the patola of Patan which is famous all over the world. The speciality of Patola of Patan is that it can pass from a single ring. A very minute silk work is done on the pink border of my saree which makes it really very attractive.

When did you buy them?/Who gifted them to you?

I was born and brought up in Mumbai. Since childhood, I have had a keen interest in Music. I used to take part in a lot of singing competitions but unfortunately, I wasn’t able to win any of them. Due to this reason, I used to get demotivated a lot. When I was in 10th grade, my grandmother started giving me music lessons. Her music skills were excellent. After getting trained for six months, I performed in the state-level singing competition, and my hard work paid off as I won that competition. After that event, my Grandmother gifted me a saree that she had bought from Patan.

Why do you like them?

This saree is very close to my heart because it was my Grandmother’s last gift to me. A few months after my competition, my grandmother passed away due to a heart attack. Her death was very devastating for my whole family, but I always remembered her lessons. This saree always reminds me of her and it motivates me at every stage of life.

How often do you wear them?

I wore this saree on my high school farewell and all my classmates loved it. I wear it whenever I perform in any singing competition, it brings good luck to my life. By wearing it, I remember my grandmother and her lessons.

Conclusion

Hence this saree is very important to me and it is the best gift I have ever received.

Describe your favourite clothes - Model answer 3

Introduction

I am a college graduate. After the completion of my degree, I was searching for a job but I was not able to get one as I was not qualifying certain needs. This type of failure demotivated me a lot. After a lot of effort, I managed to get a job which paid me a little less than expected. One month after joining I bought a pair of formal shirts and pants from my first salary.

What are they like?

The shirt is black in colour with long sleeves. The pants are cream-coloured. A pant is a  garment covering each leg separately and usually extending from the waist to the ankle. The best thing about my shirt is that it is made of such a material that it doesn’t require ironing.

When did you buy them?/Who gifted them to you?

I bought them from my favourite local store in my city. The store has a good collection of clothes at affordable prices. It is very famous as many famous people have promoted it. I bought these clothes from their latest collection.

How often do you wear them?

I wear them on every important occasion or interview. As you can see today I am wearing it as it is an important exam for my life. Moreover, black is my favourite colour because I feel that it looks good on me.

IELTS speaking part 3 - Describe your favourite clothes

The follow-up questions for “Describe your favourite clothes” are given below. The discussion round of the IELTS speaking test will be conducted for about 4-5 minutes where you will have to answer questions related to your topic.

1. What do you prefer: Online shopping or offline shopping?

Nowadays, most of the people are buying things online, as a result, offline vendors are suffering a loss. In my opinion, Offline shopping is far better than online shopping as it has many advantages. First of all, the best part about offline shopping is that we can bargain and get the things at desired prices. Also, we can check the items physically in offline shopping which is not available in online shopping. Also, local vendors get employment which improves the economy. Hence I prefer buying things through traditional shopping.

2. Which things do you keep in mind while buying a dress?

Our dressing sense defines our personality, I always want my body language to highlight reverence about occasion and place. So colours and patterns make a difference. And of course, prices should be compared to make the final decision.

3. What kind of clothes are worn in your country?

As my country is diverse and follows every significant event and religion, clothes are worn accordingly. Moreover, in my generation, trends are given importance while in festivals, traditional clothes are worn.

4. Does your dressing style describe your personality?

Definitely, it does. I like to make sense of the place and purpose in accordance with my dress.

5. Should school uniforms be compulsory?

Schools are a place where discipline is taught along with academics and sports. A mandatory dress code would signify decorum and management severity. Thus, I believe that school uniforms should be compulsory.
