A cue card with a topic is presented to you. IELTS Speaking Part 2 requires you to Describe your best friend in at least two minutes. You will have one minute to plan your narration. If you want to take notes, the examiner will give you a pen and paper. You'll be tested on your capacity for clear communication and organise your thoughts coherently. Part 3 of the IELTS speaking test is composed of a discussion based on the topic shown on your cue card, a series of follow-up questions, and the final section of the test.

Introduction
In this instance, I'm going to discuss about one of my best friends, Vaidehi. Over the six years of our friendship, she has become one of my closest friends.

How did you meet?
When we were in junior high school, Vaidehi and I became friends. At that time she was new to the school and she asked me the way to 11th grade classroom. Since I was the first person she asked for directions, we got to talk, and I stated that we would both be in the same class.

How long have you two known each other?
We've been friends for six years. She was the first person I connected so quickly because we had similar interests, pastimes, and viewpoints. As a result, our friendship had lasted for a long time.

How do you spend time together?
Because we share similar interests and pastimes, we both enjoy playing badminton; therefore, during the evening hours, we both play in a nearby badminton court and spend one hour, followed by nearly an hour of sitting and sharing whatever we did until that time. Additionally, On weekends, we also binge watch shows and movies that we adore together.

Explain why you like this person?
I appreciate her upbeat outlook and boundless energy. She's usually beaming and knows the knack for cheering me up when I'm depressed. She's also really supportive and is always willing to listen if I need to chat. She has a terrific sense of humour, and when we're together, we always end up laughing a lot. I consider myself really fortunate to have her as a friend.

Conclusion
Having a best friend in life is essential since they will assist us in a variety of ways. First and foremost, someone with whom we can disclose anything without fear of being judged. Second, always be there when we need someone to support us and make us feel good about ourselves. And I've met that person in my life.

Describe your best friend Model Answer 2

Introduction
Friends, make our lives more meaningful and joyful. And some friends come up to show us how important they are in our lives. Jay is a wonderful friend, and I consider him to be my best friend.

How did you meet?
Jay and I were childhood friends, and our fathers are close friends too, so we met through them. We attended the same high school and college.
How long have you two known each other?
We were childhood best friends and had done everything together up to this point. Throughout this time, he has been a confidante and friend to me, and he has backed me.

How do you spend time together?
We regularly play chess, watch movies, visit new places, have political conversations, and discuss our future goals. We love dining at various establishments because our tastes are similar. Together, we also visit the gym.

Explain why you like this person?
We both recently graduated - I have a BBA degree and Jay with an architecture degree. We enjoy discussing our personal difficulties; he is the one person with whom I can talk about anything. He occasionally gives me advice on how to deal with hurdles and stress. I appreciate it when he encourages and motivates me to attain my goals.

Conclusion
Best friends are always close. Jay has already demonstrated this by supporting me in every way he can and helping me get out of any difficult situation. His influence in my life is undeniable, and he will always be my best friend. And it is for this reason that I admire him and value his friendship.

Introduction
One may have many friends across various stages of life, but not every one of them is the best friend. The closest friend should possess a certain set of traits and obligations. Therefore, I would talk about a very close friend of mine named Sana. She is one of the friendliest and most straightforward people I know.

How did you meet?
We have been acquainted for almost eight years. My father moved to my current place (Ahmedabad) when I was nine years old. He moved to this city to expand his business. After joining the school, I met the local students, who were all friendly. Although some unseen barriers separated us, I eventually realised Sana was similar to me. Her family moved there a few months ago as well. We intended to be together because neither one of us could possibly be familiar with the neighbourhood kids. 

How long have you two known each other?
We initially met eight years ago. Over the course of these years, we argued frequently, yet everything always ended amicably. She and I actually communicate extremely well with one another, so problems don't linger very long.

How do you spend time together?
We work together on a variety of topics. Given that we are in the same grade, we both support one another in our academic endeavours, discuss our opinions, and take notes during or before the academic exams. We go on bicycle trips. Additionally, we both adore watching films at cinemas. We hurry to the movie theatre the moment we notice an advertisement for a new release. We are both invited to our respective families' traditional events, and it seems as though we have become a part of the families.

Explain why you like this person?
She stepped forward to support me when I felt troubled and alone in school. Although the local kids originally welcomed me because I was from a different culture, the cultural gap was one of the main reasons we didn't get along. Sana then extended her helping hand and remained by my side. She is quite cautious about several things, and because of her direct influence, I have been doing well on my exams. 

Conclusion
She has a stronger sense of what is correct and what is not. She stops me from doing any unnecessary things. I am fortunate to call her my best friend.

IELTS Speaking Part 3- Describe your best friend Follow-up questions.

The following are Follow-up questions to "Describe your best friend." This section of the exam lasts for approximately 4-5 minutes, during which you must explain questions related to a general subject or questions from your cue card.

1. What do you think are the most important qualities for friends to have?
   Friends are like exceptional "gifts" to individuals, and it is reasonable to say that they can be anything other than "friends" unless they are entirely "wrapped up" with key qualities like affection, admiration for one another, honesty, loyalty, and dependability. As a result, another crucial characteristic of friends is their willingness to support those they consider friends in both good and difficult times.
2. Which are more important to people, their family or their friends? Why?
   Family members have "blood relationships" that can never be contradicted or wiped out by any authority in this world, thus I would venture to argue that they are and always should be more significant to people. In addition, our families are frequently the first to come to our aid when we are in danger or need something.  As a result, family members are frequently better able to comprehend the "needs" of those people they refer to as "family" than their friends.
3. What do you think causes friendships to break up?
   For a number of frequent reasons, including- distance, change in circumstances, and lack of communication, friendships can terminate or get lost. However, the more significant factors might be the absence of mutual respect and trust, without which it would be very challenging to establish and maintain a pleasant relationship between the parties involved. Sometimes, backstabbing for a small gain, backbiting, and arrogance can also lead to the dissolution of friendships.
