IELTS Writing Task 2 Discuss Both Views Sample 1
In the below sample IELTS writing task 2 essay, you have to discuss both sides “You have to spend more to improve the country's economy” and “it is better to save money” and give your opinion. Let's see how you can present the same.
Some people think that it is better for a country’s economy for people to spend money while others believe that it would be better for people to save money. Discuss both sides and give your opinion?
The debate over whether spending or saving money is more beneficial for a country's economic health is ongoing. One segment of society says that to improve the economy you should spend more money while others say it is better to save more money. Here we will discuss both the views and give my opinion.
On one hand, expenditures are important for a country’s economic development. The demand and supply chain should be maintained in order for the money to flow in. Consumable goods are manufactured and sold either to the customer or business. When people purchase goods and services, it drives demand, which in turn boosts production. Increased consumption is one of the important factors determining the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of a country. To enhance the economical situation, increasing expenditure is crucial as it fuels production and economic activity.
Conversely, saving money is also important for an individual and the country. The habit of saving money can help you in economic downturns and to also overcome economic recession. You can save money and in turn buy something important, valuable and expensive like a car, jewels etc. Saving more money can help banks to lend money for investment purposes. This, in turn, supports the creation of new businesses and job opportunities. Essentially, as people earn more and save more, they contribute to a more stable and growing economy.
To sum up, in my opinion spending and saving money go hand in hand. It is important to avoid overspending on non-essential items while ensuring that savings are managed effectively. Hence we should find a balance to improve our status, thereby improving the overall economic stability of the country.
IELTS Writing Task 2 Discuss Both Views Sample 2
Under sample 2 you are expected to discuss both the views on which kind of people to recruit for companies. Should they consider independent or innovative people or a team player?. Check out the sample answer below.
Some people think that when recruiting, companies should aim to take on people who are innovative and able to work independently while others consider they should recruit people who are able to work in a team and follow instructions. Discuss both views and give your opinion
The debate over whether to recruit individuals who are innovative and independent or those who are team-oriented and obedient is ongoing. For a company to thrive, a blend of both qualities is often necessary. This essay will explore the advantages of each approach before presenting my own perspective.
To start with, it is important to recruit people who are innovative and work independently. Such employees bring creativity and are adept at generating new ideas. They possess strong problem-solving skills and can operate effectively without constant supervision. They can initiate discussions, schedule meetings and drive improvements within the company. With the rise of remote work, the ability to innovate and work autonomously has become increasingly valuable.
On the other hand, for a company to grow, all the team should collaborate together and each team member should work collectively to bring success. A team to thrive, it is important to have people who have different strengths and who are able to work together. They should also be open to constructive criticisms and be able to correct them. The synergy of a well-functioning team can enhance both individual and collective growth.
To conclude, I feel that it is important to have a work-force that balances people who can work independently and team players who can work collaboratively. While working independently promotes growth and adaptability, teamwork ensures a cohesive environment to achieve collective goals. Hence for a company to grow, both kinds of people are essential.
IELTS Writing Task 2 Discuss Both Views Sample 3
The given topic below is an interesting one, where you must discuss whether to be safe doing only the known things or to grow accepting challenges. Know the pros and cons of both the sides and our opinion below.
Some people prefer to spend their lives doing the same things and avoiding changes. Others, however, think that change is always a good thing. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion
Change is an inevitable part of life. While some people accept changes and prefer to grow, while others prefer to be in their familiar routines. In this article, let us discuss both the perspectives before I present my opinion.
Embracing change is fundamental to improving one's quality of life. Accepting change as a challenge can lead to personal and professional development. For example, if you secure a job in a new city after college, adapting to the new environment and learning new skills is essential. Stepping out of your comfort zone and facing new experiences can enhance your career and open up additional opportunities. Embracing change can lead to a more dynamic and fulfilling life.
On the other hand, individuals who prefer their usual routine, and avoid changes become stagnant in their life. They have nothing to challenge themselves. This reluctance to embrace change may result in lack of personal and professional growth. Their lives may become monotonous, lacking inspiration and motivation to advance.
In conclusion, those who welcome change and actively seek growth are more likely to achieve success and satisfaction in both their personal and professional lives. On the other hand, those who resist change may find themselves less engaged and less likely to grow. Therefore, I believe embracing change is crucial for long-term success and fulfillment.
IELTS Writing Task 2 Discuss Both Views Sample 4
Below we have discussed the topic, whether the improvement in science and technology has caused more environmental problems or solved it ?. Scroll down to know more in detail.
Development in science and technology have caused environmental problems. Some people think that a simpler way of life will protect the environment while others believe that science and technology can solve environmental problems. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
There is always an argument stating that environmental problems are caused due to the improvement in science and technology. But on the other side, it is stated that science and technology can give solutions to environmental problems. In this article, I will discuss both sides and give my opinion.
On one hand, technological progress has contributed to environmental degradation. The rise of science and technology has led to the proliferation of factories and machinery, which has reduced the need for manual labour but increased pollution. The pollution caused by factories severely affects land. On the other hand, inventions like cars and scooters, and reduced usage of public transportation have consistently increased the emission of carbon monoxide, thereby increasing global warming. With increase in innovation, too much rubbish is produced like plastic, which creates a huge land pollution.
On the other hand, life before the industrial revolution was simpler and had less environmental impact, with fewer climate changes and less pollution. However, technology has evolved, and scientists are now using these advancements to address environmental challenges. For example, electric vehicles and improved battery technologies are being developed to reduce carbon emissions. There is also a growing emphasis on renewable energy sources, such as wind, solar, bioenergy, hydroelectric, and tidal power, which aim to lower carbon footprints and mitigate environmental damage.
In conclusion, while technological advancements have contributed to environmental problems, they also offer potential solutions. It is crucial to plan and implement innovations in a way that minimizes their environmental impact. Balancing technological development with environmental responsibility is key to achieving sustainable progress.
IELTS Writing Task 2 Discuss Both Views Sample 5
Should a movie entertain or educate? Read below to know more about each view in detail and we have concluded with our opinion.
Some people think that movies should only be for entertainment. Others think that they should also have educational values. Discuss both views and give your opinion
While some argue that movies should primarily serve an educational purpose, others maintain that their main goal should be entertainment. As a passionate movie lover, I believe that not every film needs to be educational, as movies can have various intentions and fulfill different roles. In this article, I will explore both perspectives and share my own view.
In our busy and fast-paced world, it's important to take breaks and enjoy ourselves. Movies are part of the entertainment industry, and their primary aim should be to entertain rather than to educate. After a long day at work, many people look forward to relaxing and having fun with friends and family.
However, some people see movies as a powerful medium for both entertainment and education. They believe that movies can be an effective platform to impart valuable lessons and information, especially since they attract large audiences. For instance, films about historical events or patriotic themes can teach children about the struggles of past generations and inspire them to appreciate their heritage. Similarly, movies that feature positive role models can motivate viewers, particularly young people, to strive for success and embody good values.
To conclude, I would like to put forth my opinion as movies are surely meant for entertainment purposes. Since it is a powerful medium a good message or educational content narrated along with entertainment is a sure hit among a vast audience. In that it can leave a great impact on many people's lives. Therefore, I support the idea of including educational elements in films when appropriate, as it can be a valuable addition to their entertainment value.
IELTS Writing Task 2 Discuss Both Views Sample 6
In the below sample IELTS writing task 2 essay, you have to discuss both sides “You have to spend more to improve the country's economy” and “it is better to save money” and give your opinion. Let's see how you can present the same.
Having more money and less free time is better than earning less money and having more free time. Discuss both views and state your opinion?
Most of the high earning people in the world value the time they spend making money more than the time they spend doing other activities. But is this a good way to spend our lives? I feel our lives should have a balance between making money and spending our time on other humanly activities. This essay will analyse both the situations.
Some people compromise on themselves, their friends and family to earn a living. Such people feel that being rich is the biggest goal of their life. These people, for example, idealise the lives of very rich people and dream of living the same life. From this it is clear that such people believe in the power of money more than anything else.
On the other hand, there are people who think that spending their free time happily is better than spending that time to make money. They think that they are in this world to enjoy and not solely to make money. They believe they cannot purchase everything in this world, especially friends and family. Also there are cases where people who work get so many types of diseases. From a Time magazine survey, it is clear that people believe money cant buy anything and everything and we have to show interest in other things and shouldnt sacrifice our happiness for money.
To conclude, I believe that both money and time are important and should go hand in hand without sacrificing one another. So each person should be able to live a balanced and happy life.
IELTS Writing Task 2 Discuss Both Views Sample 7
The topic given under sample 7 is an argument between people who are okay to have more TV programs and others who says it affect the quality if the number of TV programs are increased. Scroll below to know how to present these answers.
The number of TV programs is growing day by day. Some people say it is good as it gives people more choices, while others say it affects the quality of TV programs. Discuss both the views and give your opinion.
TV programmes help people to relax and enjoy their free time. But as technology has developed, the number of TV shows has increased. This has given people more options to watch, but has left many people confused about what to watch. Along with this, it gives rises to another problem which is the quality of the shows. In my opinion, it is good to have more choices, but the creators must be also focused on creating better content. In this essay we will discuss both the views.
To start with, the arrival of dish TV has given so many options to viewers to choose what they want to watch. Through many TV shows people are getting chances to express their talents in front of a large audience. For example, a study at a prominent university suggests that the present generation gets more such opportunities than the previous generations. Summing up, more programs brings more opportunities to people.
But on the contrary, there are unhealthy competitions going on between TV channels. A TV show can copy the ideas from a different TV show which will affect the quality of the content and cause boredom to the audience. So even with more shows the audience are left with nothing new to watch. So having more TV programmes has also affected the quality of these programmes.
Concluding the views, since the standards of these programmes are questionable, it is better to concentrate on the quality of the content rather than creating more content.
IELTS Writing Task 2 Discuss Both Views Sample 8
As a 8th sample, we have given a topic on the usage of vaccines on children to prevent common disease and others who are not much interested in vaccinizing their children. Check out the stands taken for both the views below.
Many childhood diseases can now be prevented through the use of vaccines. Should parents be made by law to immunise their children against common diseases or should individuals have the right to choose not to immunise their children?
Vaccination is important for children because it is a cure for many types of childhood diseases. There are 2 arguments whether the law should be enforced or whether the people should be given rights to refuse. I believe that the government should enforce vaccination laws as it is vital for a healthier next generation.
Giving parents the freedom to choose whether to vaccinate their children can lead to refusal of vaccinations as there are many misconceptions and wrong beliefs that have spread among the common people. Many diseases like Polio, hepatitis B, varicella, Diphtheria etc have been brought under control by vaccinating small children. It is important to eradicate such diseases which affect small children. Therefore it is important that the country’s healthcare system focuses on the greater good of the society and participates in eradicating diseases by enforcing the vaccination laws.
On the other hand, there have been several instances where vaccination has created a negative impact on the people. Such instances have created fear among people and have made them reluctant to get vaccinated. For example, in the Philippines, a vaccine was given to many children to protect them against Dengue. But instead of serving the purpose this turned out to create allergies in them as vaccines tend to react differently in different people.
To conclude the essay, the government has the power to eradicate diseases from their country if it is concerned about the health of the people of their country. But before vaccination the government should do proper research and make sure that the vaccine is safe for all people.
IELTS Writing Task 2 Discuss Both Views Sample 9
The sample 9 has an interesting topic where 2 views are given. They are, completing university education is important to get a job and others who say that developing skill set and gaining experience is all needed to get a job. The arguments are given below for your reference.
Completing university education is thought by some to be the best way to get a good job. On the other hand, people think that getting experience and developing soft skills is more important. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.
People have mixed opinions about having a college degree and have work based experience to search for good job opportunities. In this essay I will discuss both these points in 2 paragraphs.
On one hand, there are several benefits to having a college degree. Interviewers first check your qualifications before shortlisting you for interviews. For complex jobs they will choose a graduate and not an unqualified person. A college can provide a huge exposure to its students through various activities conducted on campus. A college student can gain so much knowledge from experienced professors and can go for further higher education. Going for higher studies improves your chances of getting into higher job roles in any company.
On the other hand, people who learn practically, get their knowledge from their experiences. Nowadays many companies are investing in skill building opportunities to help their employees learn new skills and improve themselves. They get exposed to different kinds of training for free. There are a lot of online learning platforms like coursera and udemy from which anyone can learn what they want without going to college. During their job they play various roles and eventually learn to solve new problems. Hence this helps them gain an upper hand in the job market.
So to conclude, gaining university education makes it easy to get a job as it puts you ahead of the competition and also helps you go for further studies. But as you work you gain new skills through work experience.
IELTS Writing Task 2 Discuss Both Views Sample 10
The last and interesting topic is about hosting international sports. The 2 views that are discussed here are, whether a country needs to host international sports event or not to avoid more problems.
Many countries want to host international sports events, while other countries think that hosting sports events has more problems than benefits. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
There are so many countries that are interested in hosting international sports events. But there are some countries that think this will cause negative consequences to them. I feel there are more benefits of conducting a sporting event in their countries than the disadvantages.
International sports matches allow a country to open up to trade opportunities from other countries. The country can also introduce its culture and traditions in front of the whole world. This will help the country to attract a lot of tourists to their country which will impact the country’s economy positively. This gives rise to a lot of good business opportunities. For example, during the FIFA world cup 2014 that was conducted in Brazil, millions of dollars were earned just by selling the famous traditional flute named “Vuvuzela”.
On the other hand, the country hosting sports events has to spend huge amounts of money for the purpose of inaugurating and conducting these events. These countries have to begin so many construction activities to accommodate the visitors and the sportsmen. After the sports events end, these facilities will remain unused by anyone which will incur huge money to the hosting country. For example, for the 2018 cricket world cup, Bangladesh constructed a lot of modern facilities which put a lot of financial stress on the government and many of the grounds lie unused now.
Concluding the points, even though there are many business opportunities that the country gets, there is a wastage of money and other resources happening during these sports events. But I feel in the long run the advantages will always outweigh the disadvantages.
