Some people believe that personality is something generally considered to be stable, long-term and not easily changed. It’s most clearly expressed when interacting with other people. While others disagree with the statement. Here in the following paragraph I am going to share my perspective. 

To begin with, personality encompassess how a person acts and feels, contributing to their uniqueness. While genetics plays a role in shaping personality, it is not the sole influence. Research has shown that both genetics and the environment of human personalities and temperaments. For example, if someone turns into a criminal, then it is not solely due to their genetics. However, genetic factors might predispose certain individuals to engage in criminal behavior.

On the other, environmental influences are significant in determining behavior. Because people can easily adapt to the surroundings where they live. For instance, if a person is raised in a law-abiding environment then they would be less likely to pursue a life of crime. 

Moreover, the social learning theory indicates that a person’s personality and behavior can be altered by imitating others. For example, if someone admires a role or someone they wish to emulate, they may try to align themselves with that person. As a result, this can lead to changes in their personality. 

Overall, I believe that personality is something which is not only determined by genetics. And it can be a changeable one with various factors.

Some believe that personality is related to our genes and it cannot be altered, whereas others believe that it can be altered. Here the given statement is that our personalities are predetermined as a result of our genes before we are born and there is nothing that can be done to alter our character traits. In the following paragraph I am going to share my view about the given statement.

Scientists estimate that 20-60 percent of temperament is determined by genetics, beyond genetics, an individual’s personality is influenced by multiple factors, according to various psychologists and studies four major determinants of personality include physical, intellectual, social and psychological aspects. Let’s discuss each of these in detail. Intellectual factors can shape a person’s personality through their cognitive abilities, problem-solving skills, critical thinking, sense of humor etc. 

Secondly, social factors shape an individual’s personality through the interactions they have, the cultural contexts they inhabit, and the roles they assume. A person's personality can be influenced by their living environment.  Furthermore, education also plays a crucial role in shaping personality. For example, if a child learns about discipline from both teachers and parents, they will understand what is right and wrong and how to conduct themselves in different situations. Thus, education significantly contributes to the development of one's personality.

In conclusion, my viewpoint is that even though genetics plays a role in one’s personality, it can be changeable with various factors like education, surroundings, social factors etc.

Many people hold the view that personality is shaped by genetics. Some contend that our inherent traits make it unchangeable. However, I believe that both genetic factors and other influences play a significant role in shaping an individual's personality. I will explain this further in the next paragraph.

Genetics can significantly influence a person’s personality in various ways, however, it does not account for every aspect of personality. Numerous other factors, including family factors, culture are some of the factors that play a role in shaping an individual’s personality. Firstly, cultural factors play a significant role in shaping a person’s personality. These cultural influences are rooted in our upbringing, including the rituals we observe, the early conditioning we experience, and the social groups we associate with. These elements all contribute to how our personalities develop. Factors such as aggression, independence, cooperation, and competition are important cultural influences in determining personality.

Secondly, family factors are the most important influences on personality, including some elements such as parenting style, role models, negative behaviors, family communication, and family values play a crucial role in shaping an individual's personality. For example, positive family values like love, respect, and good manners can help develop a person's character, while exposure to negative behaviors within the family can adversely affect their personality.

Overall, I think that our personality isn't solely shaped by our genetics. It can also be influenced by our environment and the things we engage with, such as the people we spend time with and we listen to. These elements can play a significant role in shaping a person's personality, which can change over time.

Model Sample Answer 1 Band 6.5 - Our personalities are predetermined as a result of our genes before we are born and there is nothing that can be done to alter our character traits to what extent do you agree?

It is widely believed that our personality is determined by our genes and remains unchanged throughout our lives. I concur with this view that our personalities are predetermined as a result of our genes before we are born but I believe that our character traits can be altered. In the next paragraph, I will explain my perspective on this belief.

A person's personality and behavior are closely connected to their genes. Often, individuals exhibit behaviors similar to those of their parents. For example, a child may show an interest in a game just like their mother or father, or someone might find success in business in the same way their grandparents did. This reflects family traits being inherited across generations.

The well-known saying “like father, like son” refers to the resemblance in behavior and mannerisms between a father and his son. This transfer of characteristics from parents to their children is known as heredity. For instance, Ravi's father is a devoted individual, and now Ravi is following a similar path of devotion. However, research has shown that the chance of a person sharing a similar personality trait from genes is not much greater than the chance of sharing it with a random stranger. 

In conclusion, I believe that our personality is predetermined as a result of our genes, but it can be altered by various other factors.
