Introduction
Recently it was my elder sister’s birthday. She always complained that I never gifted her anything on her birthday. So this year I decided to give her something which she has always been interested in.

What the gift was? And Whom you gave it to?
My sister, Shrushti, likes clicking and printing pictures a lot. She even has a picture wall, which contains a lot of pictures from our family trips, dinners, her friends from college and school days . She calls this wall a memory lane. I gifted her a polaroid camera with a lot of photo films, so that she can use it to click more and more pictures and fill up her wall.

How you felt about it?
The pure joy on my sister’s face upon seeing the camera made me very happy. I knew she would like it. For me it was just a camera, but to her as she stated, it was her little sister’s first gift that she will cherish forever. I felt very happy after hearing this small statement.

Why did you choose this gift for this person?
Her love for cameras and pictures is very big and I am sure that she will use it very much even in her daily life. She loves to capture even the smallest routine and mundane thing of her life. And it will be easier for her as she does not need to print and cut out her pictures, as it is a polaroid camera.

Conclusion
I think I realised how much my sister cherishes the things that are related to me. Even on her wall, pictures of us two cover up a vast place. Every year I will give her a gift, because I realised how much even a small thing from me will make her happy.

Introduction

• Every person loves to receive a gift.
• Gifting also symbolises our love for the person whom we are gifting.
• In my country, people usually give gifts to each other on special occasions such as birthdays or festivals.

Whom you gave it to?

• Last month, we celebrated Father's day.
• My father is usually the person giving gifts instead of receiving one.
• This time I wanted to give him a gift.
• Dad is a big fan of watches. He has a vast collection of multi brand watches such as titan, rolex and so on.
• He was very much interested in the recent collection of smartwatches launched by Fossil.

What the gift was?

• I bought a Gen 6 SmartWatch Smoke by Fossil.
• It has a stainless steel wrist belt, which is detachable and can be replaced by a silicone belt.
• It can be operated by almost every mobile phone, and has a storage of 8 GB.
• It can work for 24 hours and additional hours in multi-day extended mode. 
• The watch can measure blood pressure, heart rate and some more medical symptoms.

How you felt about it?

• My father has always given me gifts and things I have wanted or asked from him.
• Giving him something that he wanted was a lovely thing I did and I am very glad that he liked it so much.
• He wears it everyday and keeps showing and boasting to his colleagues that I bought his favourite watch.

Why did you choose this gift for this person?

• I gave dad this watch, not just because it was his favourite but also because the watch had a feature allowing multiple mobile phones to be connected at one time.
• By using it, I could monitor his health, as in recent years his health has deteriorated and we are always worried about him.

Conclusion

• Fathers do a lot without saying a word or complaining.
• Sometimes we need to thank them in their language, which is giving gifts and making them feel loved and special just like how they make us feel.

Introduction
I am not very good at giving gifts to others. Normally I prefer giving them a money envelope which they can use to buy the things they like and prefer having. However, I do give gifts to my siblings and a few friends.

What the gift was? And Whom you gave it to?
Last week was my best friend’s birthday. She is not a difficult person to give gifts to. It was her 21st birthday. I gave her a miniature collection of Givenchy perfumes. She loves perfumes a lot. She has almost all perfumes from Dior and Chanel. Her favourite brand is Givenchy, that is why I decided to give her the Givenchy mini perfume set to her.

How you felt about it? And Why did you choose this gift for this person?
But we have been apart from each other for the past three years due to our college being in different cities. I was uncertain at first as in those 3 years her preference could have changed. However, I was pleasantly startled by her reaction. She was smiling big and hugging them like they were her most valuable belongings. Her love for perfumes has not changed, and I was happy that i gave a perfect gift for her.

Conclusion
Some things never change in friendships, even when friends are miles away from each other. I am very happy that we are now finally in the same vicinity, meaning we can meet up frequently.

IELTS Speaking Part 3: Describe your dream house Follow-up Questions

This is the last round after the cue card. It is called a discussion round. The duration of this section is 5 minutes. The candidates are supposed to give elaborate answers of at least 3-4 lines. Here you have been provided with IELTS speaking part 9 follow-up questions for the cue card topic, “Describe a gift you recently gave someone”.

1. Do you enjoy giving and receiving gifts? Why or why not?
Answer: Yes, I do enjoy giving and receiving gifts. I believe that gifts are a symbol of appreciation and love. We give gifts to others to show our love, affection and appreciation towards them. It shows that we care about them and also how they care about us in return. I also like giving presents, because I like making people around me happy.

2. Who usually gives you gifts?
Answer: Usually I receive gifts from my parents, siblings and friends. The highest number of gifts I have received so far is from my father. He gives me and my sister two presents  on our birthdays respectively as well as one gift on every festival.

3. Who do you give gifts to?
Answer: I have mostly only given gifts to my friends. I did start giving presents to my family members as well. However, I just started to do that. It is generally only my friends who have received a gift from me.

4. In your country, when do people usually give gifts?
Answer: In India, people generally give gifts on birthdays, anniversaries and festivals. Some festivals such as raksha bandhan, brothers give a gift to their sisters. And in diwali, which is a hindu festival or in eid, which is a muslim festival, elders give away gifts to the younger generations. 

5. What kinds of gifts do they give?
Answer: I think a gift depends on the personality and preference as well as the occasion in question. The same kind of perfume does not match with all the people. Gifts like clothes, watches, shoes and so on are suitable for occasions like birthdays, but for events like weddings or housewarming parties, gifts like household or electronic gadgets are suitable.

6. What kind of gifts do you like to give?
Answer: I like to give things which are practical and usable. Gifts like clothes, shoes, watches, jewellery and so on are things which the receiver can use in future. I also prefer to give gifts, which the person likes and wants as they will be more happy and content with the gift. Giving a thing which has no value or use only makes the receiver upset, which I don't like.

7. Do you think gift-giving customs are different now than they were in the past? How?
Answer: I don't think that there is a major change in the customs of giving gifts. However, there is a shift in the description of gifts. People still give gifts like they did in the past, but now many people outsource a person to prepare the gift they want to give. In the past, people prepared everything for their friends or family.

8. Do you think they will change in the future? How?
Answer: In my opinion, I don’t think that it will change. Gift-giving custom is something which is instilled in us by our parents since our childhood. And we will naturally pass it down to our future generation too. Because of this, I think that it will not change.
