In the IELTS Speaking part 1 hobbies, you will be first asked to introduce yourself to the examiner and then he or she will ask general questions on topics related to hobbies. The IELTS speaking part 1 hobbies test will last 4-5 minutes during which the examiner will also ask general questions on familiar topics such as home, family, work, studies and interests.  To enhance your skills, we have provided 15 questions with answers for this IELTS speaking part 1 with vocabulary that will help you to answer properly and you would be able to generate ideas.

1.Do you practice any hobbies? 

Yes, I have a variety of interests. I like to play badminton, read novels, and, most importantly, cook. 

2.Is it necessary to have a hobby?

It would be uncomfortable to be bored. As a result, in order to enrich one's leisure time, one should pursue new hobbies. 

3.Is it bad to spend too much time on a hobby?

In my perspective, spending a lot of time on hobbies is not a bad thing because it helps you to relax, improve, and enables us to enjoy our free time.

4.What recreational activities do you intend to pursue in the future?

In the future, I hope to do art and craft work, learn to golf, and swim in my spare time.

5.What are the most popular pastimes in your country?

Painting, cricket, and novel reading are popular pursuits of leisure in my country.
6.Why do you believe people have hobbies? (h4)
I believe that people have hobbies because they are naturally curious. People create hobbies for their own pleasure, leisure, and recreation. 

7.Do you feel that people's interests should be shared?

Yes, I believe that hobbies may be shared with others. Yoga, for example, is a form of exercise that can be shared with others, whereas reading is an activity that can help you enhance your vocabulary. Furthermore, regular reading allows you to share more knowledge and use more sophisticated language. 

8.Does your hobby necessitate any special equipment?

Yes, I adore quilling and use it to make various paper designs and handcrafted greeting cards. These paper designs are made with a needle, which allows me to make new shapes creatively and differently. 

9.Do you enjoy sharing your interests with others or prefer to pursue them alone? 

I like to do things alone rather than with others.

10.Do you read for pleasure on a regular basis? 

No, I do not read for pleasure on a regular basis. I also like to read in order to increase my knowledge. 

11. Do you know someone who likes to cook as a hobby?

Indeed, I have a sibling who is skilled at making a wide range of foods and aspires to be a chef one day. 

12.How much time do you prefer to devote to your hobbies?  

To be honest, I believe it depends on how much time I have and, more significantly, whether or not the activity relieves my tension and worry, though I would prefer to commit more than an hour to each hobby. 

13.Why do some people find certain activities boring?

Those activities could be not either having creative touch or motivational factors. 

14.What are the benefits of having a hobby?

Having a hobby has various benefits. For starters, it fosters creativity. Second, it promotes the acquisition of fresh skills as well as the elimination of monotonous routines. 

15.What can be done to encourage people to pursue their interests?

The government should promote hobbies as a way to get mental relaxation. Furthermore, coaching centres for art and craft, archery, other sports, dancing schools, yoga courses, gyms, and so on should be established in each and every area so that people can enrol in one and follow their favourite hobby.

Example : He shook the tension out of his shoulders.
