IELTS Speaking Part 1 Home

Before answering general questions in IELTS Speaking test home, you will be asked to introduce yourself to the examiner. The IELTS speaking test 1 Home will last four to five minutes and will consist of general questions about home, family, work, school, and hobbies. To assist you in improving your skills, we have provided 15 questions and answers for section 1 of the IELTS speaking part 1, as well as vocabulary to help you answer correctly and generate ideas.

Home IELTS Speaking Part 1 Questions With Answer

1. Tell me about the kind of accommodation you live in 

Eg: My family and I live in a large house. This is a two-story structure with more than six rooms. I live on the first floor, and this room is smaller than the others. It has a south-facing view of the garden. 

2. How long have you lived there ?

Eg: I've lived in this house since I was a child, and I got my own room when I was about 9 years old. This is where I still live.

3. What do you like about living there?

Eg: There are so many things to admire about it. Firstly, it has a prepossessing garden which has an enticing view as one can see birds chirping, sun rays falling on trees and fragrances from the flora. Secondly, my home is situated near the outskirts and therefore it has less pollution in the air and most importantly, I am quite away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

4. What do you dislike about living there?

Eg: There is nothing to hate about the place I live. 

5. What sort of accommodation would you most like to live in?

Eg: I would rather live in a large house than a small house or an apartment. The house must be set back from the main road and have a large garden in front of it. A fountain near the vicinity would be a nice addition for me. I'd also like to live in a house that gets enough sunlight and fresh air. According to my preferences, my room must be spacious and gratifying. The room must have plenty of ventilation and large windows.

6. Describe the room you live in?

Eg: The type of accommodation I would like to live in will always be a house and I find it spacious. 

7. Do you prefer to live in a house or flat? Please describe it a little.

Eg: As previously stated, I would prefer to live in a house because houses are larger and we can make changes whenever we want, whereas in a flat nothing can be changed without authorization, so living in a house is preferable.

8. Which room does your family spend most of the time in?

Eg: I live in a nuclear family and both my parents are working so we all spend the majority of our time on the dining table while having dinner. 

9. What have you done to your room to make it look nice?

Eg: To be honest, art, craft and decorations have always made me elated. As a result of liking such creativities I have made a glass painting of Horse and it turned out to be the best painting ever. I have even shared this photo of my painting to various world wide webs and I have got an optimistic and immense support which has invigorate me to make more of such paintings. 

10. Whom do you live with?

Eg: I live with my parents and grandparents.

11. What do you usually do in your house/flat?

Eg: I relax at my house after college and I do paintings in my leisure time, I sit in the garden with my parents in the evening and watch television at night.

12. Are the transport facilities to your home very well?

Eg: Yes, my neighbourhood's transportation services are fine. There is a bus stop and train station with recurring service.

13. Do you plan to move?

Eg: No, we have no plans in the near future to move.

14. Would you change anything about your home? Why/ why not?

Eg: My home is an amalgamation of Indian and Western style and I love each and every part of my house. Thus, as a result of which I would never change anything in my home until and unless it requires refurbishments.

15. What is the difference between where you are living now and where you have lived in the past?

Eg: My old house was in the village centre, with unfriendly neighbours and a very noisy neighbourhood, but my new house is outside the village, in a very quiet area.

Eg: She is currently working on refurbishment plans for her two homes.

11.Prepossessing - Beautiful
Eg: He wasn't a very prepossessing sort of person.

12. Flora - Green cover, Flowers
Eg:The flora of the survey area was not rich in species ; less than 70 species of uncultivated plants were recorded.

13. Invigorated - Encouraged
Eg: She seemed invigorated, full of life and energy.

14. Amalgamation - Composition
Eg: Humans are an amalgamation of cells. 

15.Gratifying - Well-appointed
Eg: It was a gratifying victory.

16. Vicinity - Proximity
Eg: There were a hundred or so hotels in the vicinity of the railway station.

17. Authorization - Permission
Eg: First, he had used military force without authorization.

18. Recurring - Frequently
Eg: Recurring sinus infections plagued the man every winter.

19. Optimistic - Positive
Eg:The President says she is optimistic that an agreement can be worked out soon. 

20. Magnificent - Excellent
Eg: The carnival was a magnificent spectacle.
